Disecq Position re Cabling

I currently have my Disecq switch close to the LNBs but I would like to move one dish because of tree obstruction. This would mean I would have a long cable from the switch to one LNB and a short cable to the other.
Is 100 feet too far for cable length and does it matter if the switch is adjacent to the receiver instead of out close to the dishes? Thanks.

100 feet shouldn't be a problem.
In case you already have the 100 feet cable, just hook it up and test it.

Gathering up stuff to take with me to remote location so can't test ahead of time.
How about placement of switch? Will that work as good next to receiver as it does out next to the dish? Thanks.

They only difference I see between DiSEqC-Switch next to the LNB and next to the receiver is that if the switch is closer to the receiver you need more cable.

as long as you are not using a motor then the switch can be located any where in the run.

Vitruvius will become famous soon enough
curious...

What if you are using a motor? I have two K band dishes and can run off of a motor. I'd like to set one dish fixed to one satellite and get the other dish moving with a motor. Can this be done with a disecq switch? I guess closer to the motor is better in this case?

this can be done as long as the disqec switch is between the motor and the lnb. you want to make sure the sat you have the fixed dish on is not program in the receiver for the motor.
