Fortec 180cm and QARL3618 actuator

I purchased a Fortec star dish and QARL3618 actuator (Sadoun motorized package) and am looking for instructions on how to mount the actuator. There are no instructions included at all. Also the actuator came with only the most meager instructions. Can anyone point me in the right directions?

Thanks,
jg64

Thanks for the help

Mr. Arizona,

I appreciate the help.

I am having trouble making out any detail in the drawing -- is there a photo you might have of the connection of the two parts?

Thanks again - I appreciate any help you can provide.

Maybe that will help more...

I am not sure if that's the way it should look with your dish and actuator.
The last (and only) time i installed one is way back.
But i remember that it was a very shaky installation. In your case it should be similar like on the 2nd picture. And with 6' it is NOT a one man installation.
But at the end there are only two ways to get it done.
At first, valid for both ways, mount the actuator onto the polar mount [picture 1], which will make it much easier to install.
Now you have two choices...
1) connect the polar mount to the dish and than hook everything onto your pole.
2) This way might be possible for a one man installation, if you are going to install the dish close to the ground on a pole... hock up the polar mount on the pole, about 3 feet above the ground. now connect the dish to the polar mount which should be more or less in the same hight above the ground. now push all the stuff up to the position on the pole where you want it and tighten the polar mount on the pole a little bit. aim the polar mount to your true south and fasten it to the pole. make sure your actuator is expanded 50%, now aim the dish to your true south (while moving the actuator within the bracket [picture 2]). if that is done, take care of evaluation and azimuth. that should be it

That's a big help!

Mr Arizona,

Thanks for the pictures and narrative, that is whole lot more helpful. I am also wondering if you can provide any help on the electrical hookup of the actuator. The M1, M2 and sensor connections??? What power source did you use?

Best,
jg64

Which package do you got?

Shouldn't be there something like a GBOX or V-Box? That would be your power source.

I had a non-digital receiver with built-in positioner, but can't remember the brand.

Edit:
The QARL-3618 is a 24Volt actuator. GBOX and V-Box are for 36Volt actuators, like the HARL-3618. That doesn't make it easier. But not impossible. Regarding to another thread in another forum, there should be no issue running a 24v actuator with a 36v positioner. But if the cable from the positioner to the actuator is long enough, it should drop some volts on it's way to the actuator anyway.
