dielectric grease

Ok, how does one apply the dielectric grease to a coax connection? Or the better question, where does it get applied to? Does it only go on the outside of a connected coax cable, or does it also go on the inside threads of the cable...
Is this to keep oxidation from developing?

Novice question from a paper pusher....

Thanks...

inside?...

Rainman, I don't understand... Do you fill the cup solid with the stuff? This would displace any water, but would the grease on the copper core or in the threads reduce the area of contact?

Thanks.... Vit..

no A little goes along way and it doesn't seem to affect the connection.

It goes in the connector.

Conductive grease on the threads (if you got it), and dieletric grease in the connector (to prevent moisture intrusion).

I used to maintain surf rescue boats in a salt water environment.

Self-vulcanizing tape, covered with Scotch-88, covered with ScotchKote and you're ready to rock and roll on the Columbia River bar!
