New FTA System...Help!!

Hi Folks,

I just bought a new FTA system, and can't seem to get anything out of it
I'm NOT a Satellite newbi. I've set up C band dishes, Ku Dishes, Primestar, and many Echostar dishes. I bought the following:

Fotrec Star Merc. II Rcvr,
Invacom Quad LNBF
4x1 DiSEqC switch
Sadoun, PowerTech H-H motor/mount
31" dish

I have the 1st 2 C + L ports on the LNBF going to the DiSEqC Switch, and that coming back to the Merc. II... I have the next L port going to my PAID FOR Echostar rcvr.

The mount pole is 100% vertical, the motor mount is set for my latitude 39.26 degrees, my dish elevation is set for 28.29 degrees. My LNBF skew is 0

I am getting Nothing... On either recviever. I've thied fine tune on the azimuth, and elevation... Nothing.

Here's a question I cant find the answer to. Where is the LNBF to be positioned in the collar? Either in terms of distance from the dish, or in terms of the feedhorn front/back distance from the collar/clamp.

I'm getting the distinct feeling that there is some piece of equipment in the string is dead. I know the cable is good because the dish moves. I've tried hooking my current Echostar dish(s) to the Merc. II, but it says "no signal", I've tried hooking the Dish/LNBF to my Echostar reciever, nothing....

OK, I think that's the whole picture... ANY help would be appreciated!!

Vitruvius will become famous soon enough
do you have any signal?

Have you aimed the dish properly? The circular FTA satellite that has NASA is 119, and most all other satellites are linear.
I would suggest putting a tv, and the tuner next to the dish to help aim to the proper satellite. If you have the motor connected, have the tuner move the dish to the closest south satellite and set your Mercury to that sat... and adjust the dish accordingly.

Have you inputed your LAT and LONG into the Mercury in the USALS? That needs to be done prior to any motor movement.

Tell us your Lat and Long....

Good luck
