Question low-cost spectrum analyzers

I've been spoiled by always being able to borrow a spectrum analyzer to dish setups. They really beat the heck out of any other tool that i've seen.

There used to be quite a few low-cost analyzers on the market back in the analog/CRT days, but I can't find them. Does anyone have a pointer to an analyzer that can handle FTA IF frequencies? I'm thinking I want to own my own.

BTW, I would NEVER buy any piece of test equipment unless I had access to the user manual first. I used to work for Tektronix, and this is one thing that set us apart from the competition. If you can, please provide a link to any documentation (not a sales glossy)

Thanks,

Al

Red face manual?

I appreciate the pointer to the product, but the manual you provide is a glossy piece of marketing literature. Can you get the OEM to provide a complete user manual? Glossies should have died when the web came along.

Thank you sir,

Al

Ayelvington: I got to agree with you on using a specytrum anz once you get use to em it is hard to beat. now i got 2 of em here 1 is the satlook mark III, an have it for a few years now an i like it it is a good peice of test equipment. an allways will use that for test lnbs if lighting had hit that persons house, cause it has circuit proctection in it. an i even got a old Sencor spectrum anz an that is got to be 25 years plus in age an it still works great to this day, i use it for my own stuff here, it is just to big an heavy to lug around, so dont carry it in the van no more since got satlook.
but when it comes to peak in a small dish like DTV or Dishnet still dont use the satlook much at all with them. will use the birdog, for most of the small dishes set ups.

now you wont be sorry with the satlook at all, it alot cheeper than most of the spectrum anz an it hold up good with its case it is in, good luck hope this info helps for you...

thanks for the endorsement

Thanks Cap'tn! I was going to dig through the links provided (first was in German) to see the specs and the like, but any endorsement from an end user is worth its weight in gold.

This is something of a hobby, but I'm a journeyman electronics tech (communications) and this is something i could convert to $$ in rural PA where I hope to retire eventually.

Thanks again!

A

Check this out:
Mätinstrument

I'd like to have a meter with spectrum analyzer too, but its too expensive for me yet. I use my openbox, skystar with meter sound plugin and digital Multi from emitor.
The ROVER2 would be a killer for my needs, with having dvb-s2 support. '
