Installing a dish at your APARTMENT or CONDO

If you live in an apartment, townhouse, or condo, there are some restrictions on where you can mount a dish. No one can prevent you from installing a dish (with certain rules - see below). See the FCC rules about that here: http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html

In general, if you have an exclusive use area like a balcony or patio facing South, you should be able to setup a dish without a problem.

Those tripods work great for aparments iv even made a few thnags in the past like buying a cement block with 2 metel rods mounted inside the concreat then I hammerd a 4x4 on top of it.

I bought from Sadoun.com a year ago and have tried to set it up in my back yard and did not have any luck. I cannot return it because it was bought more than 30 days ago. Sadound does not have a contract serviceman in North Carolina. I am willing to sell it at a discount to whoever could afford the time and patience to set it up.

Canada has no rules (yet) like the FCC has for the U.S. It is up to the landlord or property management company to set the rules for dishes on apartments and condos.

Has anyone ever tried setting up a dish inside a window.somewhere I cant remember where I saw a dish mounted upside.If anyone knows where that site is please let me know.

Maybe I am wrong with what I am saying, but as far as I know, the problem with installing dishes is drilling wholes into walls and insurance questions.
What I did, and nobody could say anything against it, while I lived in an apartment was following: I went to the next Lowes/HomeDepot/whatever and got following things ->
1. A big black bucket (~10 Gallons)
2. A long (~4 foot) zinc tube with a diameter of about 1 inch
3. A bag of concrete
4. Some string
5. A water leveler

I poured the concrete mix in the bucket, added lots of water and started mixing until it got thicker. After that I set the zinc tube in the middle of the bucket, while using the leveler, and tied it up with lots of strings to stabilize it until the concrete dried out (~1.5 days).
No holes in the walls, no brackets mounted somewhere, absolutely nothing connected to anything someone could complain about.

If your glass is "just" simple glass ( no special isolated windows ) you can try it, but you will still loose signal quality.

If your balcony is covered and you want to install a dish but nobody should be able to see it, yes, you can mount the dish upside down. Works without any problems. There is no rule that an offset dish has to be mounted with the lnb-arm down.
