Problem setting up SV8000HD to control motor
Hope someone can help with this one.
Setting up new SV8000HD with my DH280 motor.
First of all this motor worked OK with my old Pansat 2500a. I can get pansat to lock me on to a bird, but when i hook up SV and go to dish setup on the bird that I want, I go to motor enable on menu , select, and on next menu i change to USALS,enter my Lat Lon, exit that menu. I now have a good signal on the bird, but when I tell it to scan satellite, I look at my dish and it has moved all the way to extreme East.
I can then goback into menu and select motor enable and select move west, wait for signal to return and stop it, but then again when I try to scan sat it moves back to extreme east????
Any help would be greatley appreciated, driving me nuts!!!!
Thank you

After the Dish finds the Sat. and you have a Strong signal. Don't EXIT yet !!
Press the RED Button on the Remote to SAVE that Position .
Then Exit.....
Then do your Sat.Scan.
Do this(Save Position) for each Sat. that you want to Program!

Thank you Dougross
Yes that worked for me, but for some reason I still have to use the move east or west function to find a sat. With my Pansat I would just select sat I wanted and it went to it automaticaly???
thanks again

try referencing your motor to zero some times they get out of sync.

I think when your in the Dish Setup Menu with the Usals section. You use the Green Button on the Remote to set to "Reference", which I think is "0" ?

I think I am a little confused on Diseqc/Go to X and USLAS.
The motor says that it supports Diseqc & Go to X. It doesnt mention anything about USLAS. Is USALS the same as Go to X?
The funny thing is when I had this motor hooked to my old Pansat rcvr, all I had to do was select a Satellite and it automatically went to it. With my SV8000HD the ony way I can find a bird is to use motor "move east or move west" function and watch for signal to show up, then I save that position and scan like you suggested.
Kind of confused but slowly catching on, Ha!
Thanks again

Also now if I try to find a satellite dish wont even move. I tell it to move East or move west andit does even try.
Still works OK on the Sats I have added. It goes right to them when I select them.
thanks again

I go to Satellite that I want in dish settings, go down to motor & select. It takes me to motor menu and gives me 3 options, disable, motor and USALS. I change to USALS & click on Blue button to go to sat position and nothing happens.
At this point I used to be able to then go down to move and say drive east or drive west and watch for signal and stop on satellite. This doesnt even work any more.
thanks again

Macthecow: I will try to help you, have had a SV8000 for almost a year now, an its on its 2nd movable dish now. but it sound like you are confused about storeing satellite positions, with the SV it is like the previous post when in set up menue under motor (enable) RED button to store satellite position. An i dont use USALS never had, I come from old school c-band where you program your satellites in 1 by 1 an its fast when you get use to it, at least for me.
Now this is what i would do with it, 1st drive it to your true south satellite, the do a master clear on that receiver, then go up on roof an reset motor also, now you can start from the beginning. now befor you start adding satellites go to lyngsat, an print out a list of your satellites then mark your true south sat, an high lite the ones you are going to program in. now under the motor use functions up above to move east or west is CONTINOUIS volume up will control this an set it too 2 (this will only pluss the motor alittle) then when you get too the sat you will see quality come up go to 1 for the fine tunning, then RED button to store. But just drive to each satellite, an store them DONT do a channel scan just yet. DO NOT DO A CHANNEL SCAN yet.
Now you are wounder why no channel scan, this is why, go back to your true south satellite ( satellite button to right of 0) an it will go to it. then get a usb stick go into menue an upload channel list (under usb file list red button) then take usb to your computer an save in a folder, this saves all your satellites an settings without channels, just in case if you ever have 2 rescan satellites or to do a master clear, or if your motor ever gets off you can put your settings right back in, an it is a big time saver, an a nice tool with the SV. I got 56 satellites in mine now.
Now macthecow just call up your satellites by the satellite button then go into menue an just scan satellite (red button) or blind scan (blue button) now you are ready to watch tv, as you go tru your list of channel it will move to it wheather you use faviorites or not. Hope this helps you to get it going, an good luck...

To do a master clear, Menue (under installation) bottom line- Factory Reset, push enter, then will ask you for a code # enter 0000 or 7890. unite will turn off then boot back up. but put it on your true south satellite 1st befor master clear (will make setting it back up easer) then go outside an clear motor too. Good Luck...

Thanks a lot 1captain. I am trying to learn all this stuff. Not sure what you mean by putting in my true south satellite 1st. Its already in now. Do you mean just be aimed at it before i reset?
Also I have 3 choices for my motor, hardware reset by receiver, hardware reset by Diseqc motor, and Built in satellite table reset. Which one do you suggest.
Thanks again

The reason for true south satellite is to start programming satellites from their, with the chart that you will print from lyngsat an mark your chart east an west from your southern sat. So the answer to ? 1 is yes.
Now for the motor, hardware by receiver will be done in master clear of receiver, but you still should push a button on the motor to reset it an clean it out, an that sud be hardware reset by diseqc motor.
Also right down your lnb setting of frequencey an disequ ports on switch if you are using 1, cause all these will be cleared out also.
An remember when you drive to satellite an store position (RED BUTTON), an will see bock come upsaying STORED POSITION...Good Luck...
