Exclamation True South Sat blocked by tree. work arounds???

I have a question. Is it possible to setup a motor when your true south sat is blocked by a tree? My longitude is 73 and both SBS6 and AMC6 are blocked by a pine tree. I do have a wide open view of 82, 91, 110, and 119. Is there a way to setup a motor without being able to align with your true south satellite?

yeah you can do it. it's just a little harder select the sat closest to your true south that is not blocked move the dish there by usals and make adjustments to you get your best quality and go from there to you get it fine tuned to receive all of the arc.

Thx for the reply rainman. I am about to order a SG2100. One more question. I have 2 receivers right now connected to my lnb's through my switch. With the motor, the wire goes from the lnb to the motor, then from the motor to the receiver correct? Is there a way to connect 2 receivers to control the motor? Or will 1 receiver control the motor and the other will have to just use the channels on the sat it is pointed at?

1 receiver to run the motor and the other receiver will be along for the ride.

Another question. The next sat for me would be 80w. Now to start off, am i to align the motor to face 80 as if 80 were my true south? Or should i align the motor to 74, which is my true south then go to 80 using usals?

align to your true south then use usals to move to the sat you are going to use to align on.

What you want to do is calculate your true south heading on a compass, based on your zip code.
Use the tool here:
Satellite Look Angles Satellite Heading Calculator Azimuth Elevation Skew Tilt LNBF Latitude and Longitude values

You put the motor at "zero", and align the motor to your magnetically adjusted south heading (not your "true south satellite", but the heading for true south).
Now you use USALS to drive the the closest south sat you can see. AMC5 at 79 might be a candidate for you. The NYN Nets might not be visable, but they are strong and the transponders can allow you to aim there.

I got my motor up and running. Thank you rainman and everyone else who posted. Since the tree was in my way of the bird that was closest to my true south, I did the following. Aligned my motor to true south. Controlled the motor to move to 82. Adjusted the dish and motor to get peak signal. Next moved to my most western satellite I could get signal. Adjusted the dish and motor till it peaked. Now I am able to scan everything in sight Thanks again everyone.
