Wiring a 22khz switch?

I've looked through all the documentation that came with my kit from Sadoun, but there doesn't seem to be any directions or diagrams on how to wire in the switch. Not really in the mood to read 57 pages of install support to find the answer. I did do a search, but...

Do I need two cables running from the C and L ports on the LNB to the 22KHz port on the switch (LNC A) and two from the other C and L ports to the 13/18V port (LNC B)?

I trust the middle port on the switch marked RX is for a single cable running to the receiver (Mercury II).

Been having trouble finding a signal to fine-tune the aim, but now that I know the receiver's OK (hooked it up to an unused DISH dish and got their promo channels), I'm more determined to get my FTA setup working correctly - kind of gave up on it awhile ago out of frustration. Perhaps because the switch is nowhere in the mix might be the reason I can't see anything on my properly set-up dish?

New to FTA but not to satellite television - been a DirecTV customer for over a decade and have always done self-installs... never ran across the need for a pulse control switch, however.

You might have better luck getting feedback if you indicate what type of switch (model?) it is that you're using. It sounds like you have something with 4 inputs, but that is not really the standard type of 22k switch. Normally a 22k switch has 2 inputs and 1 output. It sounds more like you have something like a multiswitch.

Equipment List

Yeah, you're right... here's my setup:

Mercury II receiver & 31" Fortec Star dish
Digipower SG-2100 motor
Invacom QPH-031 LNB (4 ports - C,L,C,L)
SM21H 22khz switch

No multi-switch being used, as this is only going to one TV, at the moment.

Either that, or the 4 lines he's talking about are the 2 linear and 2 circular ports on a QPH031, and he's confused about how to run 4 lines into only 2 ports on the switch. If this is it, the answer is just run one line from either "L" port, and one line from either "C" port. The 2 unused ports can either be left open, or put on a terminator cap to keep the weather out.

Thanks, Bill! I kind of figured I'd only need to use one C and one L output on the LNB.

Next question... does it matter which one goes to the 22khz port and which goes to the 13/18V port on the switch? I wouldn't think so because both signals are going to the same place.

I don't use 22khz switches myself, but I don't think that there IS a 13/18V port, I think there is a 22khz port and a port which is for NO-22khz. I think the 13/18V is just telling you that the switch works with either voltage (since the lnbfs work at those 2 voltages), not that it's labeling one port as 13/18V.

But to answer the question, no, it doesn't matter. It's just when you're setting up a circular or linear satellite, you set the 22khz parameter in the receiver for which ever port you have that port from the lnbf attached to, ie either the 22khz or the no-22khz. Ie if you attach "C" to the 22khz port, then when setting up a circular sat, set 22khz ON in your receiver, and have it set OFF when setting up a linear sat.
