80CM OR 90CM Dish?

Newbie question for you. Got an 80cm dish with my system and have been
running an average of 75% signal strength and 60% signal quality. Under
mostly ideal conditions, new cable,connectors, no obstacles, good setup,
etc........ how much of an improvement could one expect to see in say
stepping up to the 90cm dish?? I realize much depends on satellite transmission, but i was wondering if in general there is signifigant general
improvement from 80 to 90 ............

You won't see a significant difference if picture quality. A larger dish, however, will permit you to continued viewing TV when there is a storm outside since the larger dish can compensate for the signal drop.

It all depends on the channel you watch the most. Does it breakup into pixels all the time? some of the time? not at all? If you are not getting a watchable picture, then by all means upgrade to a larger dish. This all really depends on where you live, which satellite you are looking at and its transponder strength.

Yeah, I agree with William... Get a bigger (90cm) dish if the channels you watch have low signal (quality) or the picture is on the verge of breaking up... Otherwise, if all the channels you want come in just fine, then no need to upgrade and waste your money...

Really have had no problem. This is my first system so i'm really experimenting and learning what works and what doesn't. I've had
a few of the weaker transponders break up into pixels on me but no
real issues there. I'm located right on Gulf of Mexico @ 89w. Sixty
percent just seemed to be a little low to me as an average, but,
like i said ....still learning what works. The learning is part of the fun...

with my 90cm I am running 82 to 85% quality with no picture breakup even G10r comming in in the 80 quality range bigger dish is always better in my opinion. just got to find the time to install my 100cm and see if it's any better.

Got this new metal roof cover i just put over my back porch, and it's facing just the right direction for G10R and such..... wonder if my wife
would mind if i just kinda gathered that thing up at the outer ends and
bent it into a parabolic shape ? Naaaahhh... she wouldn't go for that.
I would be curious what others are averaging in signal for this sat. @
various other areas with the 80 and/or 90cm's ...........

Bigger is always better. I have a 76cm that I have no complaints about & also a 90cm that I really do not see a large difference in but experience has taught me the larger dishes do better overall. You are trapping signal. It is simply a matter of a bigger net to trap with

I have a 90cm dish quadph 031lnb & dg240 motor.how do I hook up to get 2 recievers to work

I'm in NJ, this is what I get off a G10R dedicated 90cm Dish.

This is all fairly new to me, too, but I've noticed that a signal strength of 50 (Mercury II Receiver) seems to be the threshold. A dip below that to 47-48 and I start to get some pixelizing. At this point in time, Montana PBS seems to be the only channel I want to watch that sometimes dips that low. All of the others come in mid 60s or above and the picture is perfect. Clear weather, of course, but in the Baja desert we don't get clouds or rain too often.

I have the latest firmware upgrade and it has reduced signal bars, you have to fall below the 30 something to break up. I got rid of a motor and can use the mercury II with the latest upgrade.
