I was thinking about that, but wasn't sure. It would have to cover the dish AND the lnbf arm. Also, the white garbage bags didn't look quite so bad next to snow, while I'm not sure my wife would go for a black yard bag.
What I HAVE done, is just run a strip of plastic from the top of the dish, down to the lnbf, ie not covering the whole dish, but covering the lnbf and part of the lnbf arm (in heavy snows, often you get snow building up on the lnbf arm enough to block the lnbf). This seems to shed snow well, and keeps it from building up on either the lnbf, lnbf arm and center of dish.
Before I used plastic bags with the
DTV dish, I had to always go out and knock snow off the lnbf, but the bags made it maintenance free. I think with my 36" dishs, this year, I may run a string from the top of the dish to the lnbf, and throw a white plastic bag over the lnbf/string, part way up. I think that should keep the snow off.
