need some advice
Hi guys my first post here ....
I have a globelcast dish and was wondering instead of having DN come up and put another dish for thier service, is it possible to get 119 and 110 with this dish as well ass 97?
Seems to me that the dish is big enough to handle all of them..
If anyone could point me to people that have done this or couldgive me some advice on how to do this.
Thanks in advance

hi rgildoss, typically when a new forum member make his first post and its
about DN sats 97, 110, 119 etc, they are stealing or trying to steal service.
if above describes your intentions, you will not get any help here.
however, if you are a legit customer, provide details about your system and
perhaps one of the board's experts will help you.
good luck in your quest

No sir, i am not trying to steal service ...
See i live in a Condo clomplex and had to fight them to put a GC dish so that i can watch my soccer ( paid service ) ...
But my wife has been nagging me to get DN so that she can watch her TV shows.. Me being selfish ( so she calls me ) i do not want to give up my GC but would like to try and get DN for her.. and since i know that the condo complex will have a fit if i put up another dish, i was just asking if it is possible that the 110 and 119 could be caught with the same dish by just adding some LNBs.. i suppose that DN installer wont do this for me and will try to put thier own dish up, but to avoid another screaming match with the condo association i was trying to eliminate another dish...
I totaly understand the rules and didnt think that what i was asking was realted to stealing service.. im sorry

Yes you can do this. I don't know why Bali jumped your case, I understood completely what you are trying to do, that is to add a couple circular LNBs to your Globecast dish to hook up to an authorized DN receiver.
It may take a bit of trial and error, and a few trips to the hardware store, but what you will have to do is mount the LNBs for 110, and 119 off-axis of your dish. Some dishes work better than others for this, but what you have in your favor is that the Dish satellites are high-powered so even the off-axis signals should come booming in with your presumably larger GC dish.
Since this board belongs to one satellite retailer, I won't give you an address on another, but if you google for "multi feed antenna systems", you'll likely find something similar to what you are after.

why not use a Toroidal 90 dish with multi lnbf to acheive this and Sadoun sells this dish I beleive. Iceberg has one receiving several sats.

A T-90 is a great dish. I've got one. Problem is that you have to chunk the old dish, which wasn't exactly what he was looking to do. Plus the T-90 is a monster. It's huge, and doesn't exactly fit low-profile apartment mounting requirements.
Anyway, I figured with a few cable clamps, some tubing and a couple circularl LNBs, he should be able to get the 110 and 119 birds. And he doesn't need to shell out $200+ for the T-90.

It might work, however bear in mind that there is only one focal point of a sat dish, so any time you put a second or third lnbf on a dish, it will not be an ideal situation, as you will be basically hunting for places where parts of the dish are focusing and other parts of the dish are not. I think most people think that sats to the east or west of the sat the dish is aimed at will just focus at a different point left or right of the prime focus of the dish, but this is just not the case. If you search back for my posts about an experiment where I put little mirrors at different parts of a dish, and then aimed at the sun, the results really show that when you move off center, that different parts of the dish aren't anywhere close to be focusing at a single point. The five little spots of reflected sunlight were zipping around in all directions as I slowly turned the dish off axis.
And the further angle wise you get off center, the worse it will be. However the thing that makes it more possible is that the Dishnet sats are very powerful, so you are more likely to find a spot for the lnbf that will give enough signal to lock.
On the other hand, it is my understanding that the T-90 thing, which I have no experience with, is designed with the idea of bringing the out of focus off center reflections back into focus. I don't know if it's perfect or not, but at least they are attempting to make off center focusing possible. There are a few people here who seem to have had good success with the T-90, but few people have good things to say about just strapping an additional lnbf on a regular dish. I've done this myself on my 10' dish, ie put a DTV lnbf on the side of the regular feed, and it worked, however I got better reception out of a separate 18" DTV dish.
I'm not saying not to try, as I would probably try such a thing myself in that situation, but I think it's clearly something that should be viewed as an experiment that might work and might not.

Hi Rgildess, i am new here but not to satellite you might want to check with some of the dishnet dealers in your area (that has been doing dishnet for about 5years or more) cause dish had star band and it used the same dish that globe cast uses and the had a bracket that bolted to the end of the feed that held to lnbs for sat 119 and sat 110, now they had star band running on AMC-4 now that is only 4degress from gal-25 and with a little spacing and testing shouldn;t be to bad to find signal, o by the way the 2dishnet mounted to right of the main lnb looking at the dish. And all of them i did had excellant signal on all 3 satellites. so good luck to you.
