Rain Fade Redux

So-
Yet more rain in W PA. Last night we had another round of storms- causing widespread damage. Watching PBS- got into unwatchable pixelation, and then had a chance to move immediately to the 10 ft c/ku dish- and it was watchable. Sig. strength on both in the mid 80's, even during the rain, but Qual numbers below 45 on the 30" dish, and about 55 on the 10 ft. Normal Signal numbers 82 on the 30", 85 on the 10 ft. Normal qual numbers are 65 on the 30" and 70 on the BUD.

I'm liking the idea of a bigger fixed dish for PBS- maybe the recycled Andrew X band microwave dish (6 ft al) will get a feed for Ku and locked on PBS at AMC3. Rain fade is an interesting effect but not when you want to watch.

Again, when the rain was bad enough to knock out all the Ku, we could watch NASA on C band perfectly.
