weird problem during install, pls help

first of all i want to say how much i appreciate a community like this.

i am recently purchased a fortec star classic NA system with 36" "upgraded" dish and universal lnb in a single package. my zip code is 39110.

i am using a signal finder but it does not seem to be helping since when i feel like i have something pinpointed, the meter on the screen does not seem to register anything meaningful.

i have been using 12.152 to search for a signal because i know a thai channel is there.

anyway, i started messing around with the different TPs on full power scan all networks and i found one that has a strong lock: 11.782-v-5.000 but nothing else. what is going on here? i am so lost. i would appreciate any help i can get.

thanks

is this a stationary install or motrized also is the 90 cm dish a u bolt mount or collar mount also will need your latitude and longitude or your zip code to get your angles type of receiver and lnb also needed.

thanks for your reply.
this is a stationary install for the fortec classic na at zipcode 39110
i think its a u bolt mount? its a 36" oval dish and the lnb is fixed. the website lists it as a standard lnbf. the whole dish skews on the bracket.

Ok here we go set the elevation on the dish to 51.5 degrees ( note you may have to go 5 degrees lower on this setting if it is a u bolt mount).
set your azimuth compass heading to 192.7 degrees south you may need to add a few degrees for declinatinon. skew your lnbf counter clockwise when facing the front of the dish in its holder 10.7 degrees. then set your receiver lnb lo freq to 10750 standard. put in active TP freq and sr freq see LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite for active TP. now slowly move the dish on the pole east or west 1/16 th of a inch at a time to you get a signal lock. would recommend marking the pole and mount so you can see how far you haved moved the dish and you can return to the starting point if needed. also allow 15 seconds between each move for receiver to see the change.if you get no signal on east or west movement drop or raise the dish by1 degree and try east or west movement again continue to do this untill you get a lock then adjust elevation and skew for best quality signal. now this is the settings for G25 aka IA5 which i assume you are trying to get.

1) Set LNB power to "ON" or "13/18"

2) No

Rainman pretty much summed it all up nicely - one thing - make sure about the type of LNB you have, its either universal or standard - your posts seem to conflict each other. It should be marked on the LNB. If its 'universal' set the L.O. frequency in the receiver to 10,600; if its 'standard' then set it to 10,750.

I don't understand what you are saying about lnb power you need to make sure your lnb is turned on in your receiver if you are talking about the lnb LO freq it should be set at 10750 for a standard lnb.i would forget about the signal finder untill i found the sat. use the signal meter in you receiver till you locate the sat. then you can use the signal finder to peak the dish.

1) 13/18 is good

2) 22KHz to OFF

3) LNB L.O. frequency set to 10,750 MHz

HeHeHe .....

WHITE LIGHTNIN'
(J.P. Richardson)
George Jones

Well in North Carolina, way back in the hills
Me and my old pappy had a hand in a still
We brewed white lightnin' 'til the sun went down
Then he'd fill him a jug and he'd pass it around
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy's corn squeezin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

(Chorus)
Well the "G" men "T" men revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him, but my pappy kept a-cookin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

Well I asked my old pappy why he called his brew
White lightnin' 'stead of mountain dew
I took a little sip and right away I knew
As my eyes bugged out and my face turned blue
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy's corn squeezin'
Shhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

(Repeat chorus)

Well a city slicker came and he said "I'm tough"
I think I wanna taste that powerful stuff
He took one s-s-sip and drank it right down
And I heard him a moaning as he hit the ground
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy's corn squeezin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

(Repeat chorus)
