Need help with S-1B FTA-Classic Oval Set

This is the system that I had:
S-1B Bundled System Includes
CLASSIC NA Receiver
36" Elliptical Satellite Dish
Globecast Std Single KU LNBF
I live in Portland, OR. It doesn't matter how many times I have aligned this disk, I always get the signal quality about 40% for vtv4. I called and talked to the customer support, but they have no idea what to do. Is this because I have bad LNBF? This is the GlobeCast LNBF made in Japan. What should I do?
Any help will be greatly appreciate.

Give us some info about your setup:
Is your mounting pole 100% level (checked from at least 3 sides)?
What's your location (latitude/longitude)?
What sat are you aiming at?
What do you currently have your elevation/skew set at?
What brand dish is in that bundle (some have issues with the elevation scale being off by up to 10 degrees)?
Are you using the the calculators that take into account the deviation due to magnetic north (you are using a compass, and not having it too close to any metal, aren't you?)
Are there any trees/obstructions that could possibly be interfering with the signal? (realize that your line-of-site is about 22 degrees above where the dish will seem to be pointing)

Okay, going back and reading your post and the specs of your setup a bit,

Dish: Globcast - I don't think that this model will give you problems with the scale, but do make sure that you are using the proper scale setting and that the mounting pole is 100 percent straight/level.

Location: Portland - 45.53825 N, 122.65649 W

Sat: 97W (which btw will be sorta weak for your area, so you'll need to be "bang on" with your install to get a great signal)

so, your installation should be :
Elevation: 31.8 (make sure you use the center point of bolt, or pointer on the washer, if there is one)
Azimuth: 146 (make sure you take into account magnetic deviation - looks like you're subtracting 19 for your location, so that's an azimuth of 127)
Skew: -23 (which means from behind the lnbf/looking into the dish, you'll turn the lnbf clockwise 23 degrees from the center mark)

Also, check your LNBF settings and ensure that you're set to the correct lnbf type. I know that my Fortec receiver assumed I was using a universal lnbf, but I ordered a standard. That could cause you problems.

please verify your current installation and then let us know if you need more help.

Also, don't get discouraged. Set everything the best you can, and then make very minor adjustments and see if you get a better signal. Everyone who has troubles dialing in their signal doubts as to whether the lnbf is good. I've never heard of a new LNBF being bad, so it's VERY unlikely that it's bad.

For VTV4, my signal is 35-40%, but I always get a viewable picture. This is one of the weaker transponders on IA5. Have you tried to do a blind scan to see if you can pick up any other channels?

Perhaps you could post a digital picture of your setup here. A picture is worth a thousand words.
