Reciever worked for 1 year and then....

Hi Guys

I am new here and I appreciate your answers. I have a Samsung DSR3700 which is tuned for Telstar5. It has been working fine for 2 years and from time to time I just added new channels to it.

but now this thing has started to act up. at times many channels go blank and it just keeps looking for signals. Then there are other channels that have become choppy all the sudden. I have no idea what to do as nothing has changed.

I am not using a motorized dish. I don't know if that helps. Connecting from Long Island, NY.

Would you please tell me what you think I should do? Thanks

try a master reset then rescan galaxy 25. you may have over loaded the channel capabilities of the receiver.

before doing master reset, I'd verify the wind didn't move your dish out of alighnment.

And, double check the cable connectors, look for moisture or corrosion from moisture, cable cuts from rodents, etc.

I checked the connector going to the LNBF last night. Made it loose and then reconnected it to the dish. Thanks for the suggestion

rainman hinted at doing a master reset. The only option that I have in the menus is doing a "Restore to defaults". I checked the manual for DSR3700 and that is the only option that I see to reset things.

Should I try that?

By the way most of my problems (such as losing signal right in the middle of watching, choppy screen, no signal at all) happens at night!!

thats the same thing as a master reset.
