The Next Step...

OK, I've been avoiding this, but now it's time to revisit it...

I currently have the following equipment out there running..

My 6' dish with the HH180 that I move through the Vbox

My 80 CM with a HH90 that is not hooked up (the motor that is)

My World dish with 2 standard LNB's (it will eventually have 2 LNBs, right now, just 1)

OK so here is the setup...

From the receiver to the DiSCqE switch... Input 1 goes to the BSC621... I get C band on DISCqE 1 with the 22k set to Auto. I get Ku on DISCqE 1 with the 22k set to On....

Port 2 goes straight to the LNB on the 80CM (which I have pointed at 97)...

Port 3 goes to the LNB on the World dish which is pointed to SBS6...

Now what I want to do is move both the C band and the 80CM... Not sure how to do it (remember, I stopped when I fried my 1st switch)..

If I go straight to the HH90 from the receiver, and then to the switch (before the LNB) that might work, but then won't both dishes move when I try to move a dish????

It's got me a bit confused, but I see other run 2 motorized dishes so I assume there is a solution

Al

Al,
I am not familiar with how the VBox is configured but thought here is that power is sent out via "little" wires like the ones that power an actuator. Thus there would be no reason to include it in any lnb/lnbf connection EXCEPT it is the input of the receiver. Perhaps the easiest was is a A/B switch or 2 receivers with one having an operational TV/Sat option. The RF out from receiver one would connect to TV in of receiver 2. Receiver 2 would have the other dish/dishes connected to the lnbf in.

Anyway back to original thought. All lnb's/lnbf's route to a DiSEqC switch. Receiver port of the DiSEqC to the motor of the little dish. receiver line from motor to either receiver 2 or port on A/B or could you simply use a splitter? I think with a splitter both dishes would be moving in unison though.

Have a muddied this all up now? LOL

bill190 has a spectacular aura aboutbill190 has a spectacular aura about
I have 3 dishes (2 motorized) and 4 LNB's.

One dish is a big 12 ft. dish with a BSC621-2. I don't use the built in diseqc switch on the BSC621-2, but rather I have run two coax cables back to my diseqc switch.

So I am using just one diseqc switch...
LNB 1 goes to C on the big dish.
LNB 2 goes to Ku on the big dish.
LNB 3 goes to Ku on a fixed dish.

LNB 4 goes to Ku on a small motorized dish which has a 36 volt HH positioner.

I use a separate old receiver to move the small HH dish and this receiver has no connection to the LNB on that dish - just connected to the positioner.

So to use the 2nd dish with a positioner, I just specify in set-up (main receiver) to use LNB 4 and positioner off. Then use my old receiver to move the dish to the correct satellite.

But basically the fixed dish is pointed at my most used satellite. And the 2nd motorized dish is left pointed at another most used satellite. So I don't typically have any need to move the 2nd motorized dish. But can if I need to.

So far as using an A/B switch, there are remote control A/B switches, but I don't know if these would work OK with the high frequencies used for a satellite coax connection? I have read that the more connections you have, the more signal loss you have.

I know if I have a splice/connection in my coax cable and use a regular "hardware store" coax connector, I will get a lower quality and signal strength than if I use a "high frequency" rated (blue colored) connector.
