seems like a lot of work to hook up a viewsat receiver to dishnetwork antenna, to get 3 or 4 "welcome to dishnetwork" slides, dont you think?

I like those screens Seriously though you first need to install a Dish Network receiver for the DN sats and have an active sub. Why motorize a stationary dish?

If you have an existing Dn subscription, stick with it. If you are attempting to get DN with the receiver you specified, you are attempting something illegal (read the rules).
If you still want to give it a try, here is your diagram:

Why would I be more helpful if you are violating the forum rules and attempting a crime? that would make me an accomplice.
I am willing to be more than helpful if you have a legit question.
I offered you two advices. serious advice in case I misunderstood your question and a sarcastic advice in case you are violating rules.
I am still giving you a benefit of a doubt. You mentioned that your DN setup was set up by Dish Network. That's why I am assuming that you have a valid Dish Network subscription. Keep in mind that even if you are a legitimate subscriber attempting to view programming with an unauthorized receiver that Dish Network has not activated is still a violation and illegal.
Just trying to be helpful I guess.

And why assume the worst...I'm simply trying to get the SUBSCRIBED dish net and the FTA in one reciever, that DN said they could activate...and I'm trying to configure it myself so don't have to pay them to come over and do it...

Because I have been around here alot longer than you. Same/similar questions have been asked in the past and turned out to be a cover up for somebody trying to steal service.
To answer your original question. Dish Network receiver can only receive Dish Network programming. The receiver you mentioned is only intended for FTA programming. Trying to use it in any other way (and I'm not saying if it is possible or not) even if you do legally subscribe to Dish Network programming is illegal.

wow... that would be the first I've ever heard in years -- that DN would activate a Viewsat receiver. That is a 1st.
Please post your authorization letter or documentation.

Whoever you talked to at Dish Network lied to you. Dish Network will not activate/authorize a receiver that is not issued by them.

And if the receiver you are hooking it up to is what you said it is, you are breaking the law.
Goodbye. Thread closed.
