one lnb for two adjacent satellites?

I saw a web site advertising an Invacom 0.3db LNB and claiming that the LNB can receive w95 and W97 signals at the same time. The two satellites are 2 degree apart. Is this possible or is just a scam? I am really interested in watching these two satellites but hesitate to set up two dishes or motors. I am now watching G3C.

Thanks for your opions!

it maybe possible but you wouldn't get that great of signal from either sat. the best thing to do is add a motor to move back and fourth.

Agree with Rainman. Unless I am missing something you would be aiming the lnbf in the middle and getting weak signal from both. Unless they are using a special dish along with it that would send the trapped signal from 2 sats 2 degrees apart to the same focal point but that would be in the dish not the lnbf. Where did you read this?

I did see such an LNB advertised in the Satellite Magazine (the one that Sadoun) recently gave an interview to. They have a website, and their back issues can be read on-line for free as a pdf. These LNB are sold mainly in the European market.

It depends, how big your dish is. I tried it with my 80cm, and I can tell you for sure: it does not work!

Thanks for all these replies.

It is 中文卫星电视技术服务中心,中文小耳朵王, Chinese Satellite TV Center, but it only advertise this in Chinese. The dish they sell as a package is Winegard DS2076 76cm dish. An option called upgrade is for current G3C (95W) viewer. Here are requirements for "upgrade":

1) elliptic dish. < 80cm (or 30").
2) current CCTV4 viewer (G3C, tp11780)
3) LNB bracket 40mm.
4) not for Dishnetwork and DirectTV.

I notice that Invacom 0.3db LNB is ideal for f/D = 0.6 and the
Winegard DS2076 has f/D=0.59. Is this the reason that make it work? I have tried on my old ADTH dish without any success. Also Winegard DS2076 -3db beam width is 2.4 degree, while ADTH dish has -3db beam width of 2.0 degree. These two dishes have very similar size except that ADTH dish has longer horizontal diameter, while Winegard dish has longer vertical diameter. Since I am only interested in these two satellites, one-LNB-one-dish option is more attractive.

Thanks.
