I have been trying for a week and really need help

I cannot figure out how to get a signal. Here is the equipment that I just purchase from Sadoun and Genpix
Fortec Star 100cm
Invacom Quad
Diseq switch
HH-100 motor
Genpix Skywalker 1 USB card
Satellite signal meter
Latitude: 32.97, Long: 117.24, Dish Elevation 24.6, True South 167

I lined up dish using above settings and compass and then used DVBDream and selected one of my circular lnbs and set it to 119W bird and then hit the move to move the motor to it. I then used the signal meter to go adjust so that I receive a strong signal, but I am still having no luck. Please help, this is so frustrating.

Thanks

your numbers all look good.

The usb devices can be very tricky to find a signal, I'd suggest you download DVBDREAM software, and give that a try with your unit.
I've had sucess with that one for my USB receiver.

Whats the invacom quad unit (model number)?

I'd be looking for linear sat SatMex5 and an active channel on it to align your dish, rather than circular sats, as I'm not sure if your Invacom can do circular polorization?

I think your LNB qph-031?
Do you have usuals capabilities?
Have gotten any signal at all?

Hi, I wanted to share a thought, you might want to try finding echostar 3 61.5w (is isolated from any nearby high power sat, more accurate) . The 119w sat is near 110 and 121 and proved to be confusing to me (when I was setting it up) as almost all transponders seem to be active on those birds and might give the impression that you have found the right sat when actually it might not be. You will always have to then fine tune on your true south sat (don't use 119w to fine tune, use fta sat for that, set your rx to linear lnb) for better and maximum reception of channels on your rx. I do have the same quad lnb and is by far better for the task, make sure your receiver is set for the right lnb in the correct circular freq. (11250 standard lnb). high power sats are by far very workable. Hope you find it. Once you have set in it is very rewarding, a lot of interesting stuff going on.

Yes I have the QPH-031 and per my original post I am using the DVB Dream program. I will try to tune the Echostar 3 Bird.

Thanks

Ok, sorry if this is a stupid question but does anyone know how to get Dvb Dream to correctly move to the right satellite. So far, I have gone to the diseqC section and set #2 lnb to the echo 3 bird and changed it to circular. I then go to positioner and select the echo bird and hit modify so that the send button will come up and then I hit send and it asks if I am sure that I want to move the motor. I say yes and it says that it is moving. However when I go up and check the dish it hasn't moved. I can move the dish using the east west button on the page but it doesn't seem to work when I select a satellite. I have no idea what to do because I have gotten it to try and move to a dish in the past and it worked but then othertimes it won't. I don't think Usals works but I haven't tried that. I tried posting to the dvb dream site but they haven't responded. Again, help is greatly appreciated.

Well, just to eliminate the software as being a problem, I'd suggest you try some other software out there, like THMover, which is a simple utility for controlling the motor.

I'm not sure THMover works with USB cards, though.

I think the "TH" in THMOVER refers to Twinhan, and at the web page it says "Twinhan Only". It works well with the Twinhan PCI cards, but I don't think that I was able to get it to work with even the Twinhan USB card, so I don't think it is likely at all that it would work with another brand of USB card. But it can't hurt to try I guess. I find that program very handy at times.
