Switching question

Im useing a viewsat ultra and have a t-55 with 6 lnb s And a fortec star 36inch dish with a invocom qph031 lnb & a satcontrol SM3d22 motor with a built in Diseqc switch . I have a EMP-8X1 EMP-Centauri 8x1 Diseqc Switch . First question is can i hook all the t-55 lnbs to the switch and The mororized unit as well and have them all work & still have control of the motor ./ all to 1 reciever only right now ,And if so how would i set the switching prioritys in the antenn settings on the ultra like switch type that type of stuff??/ Thanks

I don't think the receiver will handle a 8x1 disqec switch most will only handle 4 ports.

Well, my Ultra will only do 4 when it is in it's right mind, however whenever it is in it's memory overload condition, I've been able to program DiseqC numbers up to 99 into the thing. {That would be an interesting looking switch.} I don't think the receivers are so much incapable of sending numbers higher than 4, I'm guessing that they just didn't think it was needed.

However, even if the receiver had that option, there is also the question of whether the internal diseqC switch in the motor will pass the 8 port diseqC switch, and whether it would even pass ANY signal. Ie if you're trying to select say DiseqC port #6, the internal switch may just not pass the signal at all, or it may default to #1, or whatever it was last on between #1 or #2. That's assuming that the 8 port switch is after the motor. It could work if the 8 port switch is prior to the motor, but most people recommend that you don't do this due to either the power handling capability or due to the possibility that the switch might not pass the DiseqC-1.2 required by the motor. Anyway, there seem to be some potential problems, depending on how you wire the thing, unless you can disconnect the internal diseqC switch.
