OK with that said, you can get a 120cm dish, HH120 motor, C/Ku band lnbf, and the LNBHOLDER3, and a Lifetime Classic and have at it.

It will get you some Ku and C band digital signals. Stuff that's strong on C band is Canada weather channel, some WB stations, a few church channels.

It will be expensive - expect to spend about $600 on this setup.

I guess the bottom line is what do you expect to get out of your system?

Let me see if I understand what you mean by a few Ku and C band digital signals. Are you saying I will loose some of the Ku channels I'm get now because of this system? I have a motorize Cm Ku dish with a Fortec 0.3 LNBF and my Ku reception is great. I do not want to mess up what I'm getting right now. The idea about adding C band to my system ( I know a have to get a Cm dish) is to have other frequencies to tweak with. This is my hobby and enjoy doing it. Once again, I appreciate all of the inputs I get from you guys.

I cant say for sure if I lost some Ku band signals.
I know the Ku reception on the combo is lower than my Invacom on the smaller dish.

I'm getting everything that I used to get, as far as I know. I did try for some football feeds over the weekend, and the signal was at the low limit and I did not get it. I cannot say if the 30" and the invacom would have gotten the signal...

So even though the dish is much bigger, I think this combo LNBF is a compromise.
If I had the chance to "do it over", and I had the room (which I dont), I'd put in 6' C band dish with C band only LNBF, and a separate 90cm motor Ku dish.

That is also my problem. I just do not have the space. Then again I have to give it a try and see what happen with the BSC621-2 and 120cm Dish. I was planning on upgrading my system anyways. All I stand to loose is $50.00 worth of LNBF. Once I get it up and running I will let you guys know.

Just some findings. I finally got mine dialed in on 40.5 for circular C Band reception. I am using a 8.5' mesh dish. I found the lnbf does need to be skewed even for circular reception and when skewed for peak signal on a strong tp I am receiving both L and R signals. I also peaked within the scalar ring once dialed in on the target sat. I do not know how this would work on a steerable dish. Mine was a fixed project for 40.5 only.

Signal strengths are across the board with some being in the 90's and some at threshhold for me (25). I have not tried yet but am guessing that switching the plate would change this. I also imagine that I could peak skew with the plate installed and dial in just one or the other (L or R).

Ran a blind scan and came back with 99 channels in the clear. Once I have comlpeted the install I will run a complete scan and manually sift through the channels for any listed as encrypted that are actually clear.

So far very happy with performance of this lnbf BUT I am only using for circular C Band reception. Not as a combo unit.

I finally bought an old C band receiver from Ebay (General Instruments i610 receiver). [Bill, now I have a remote!!!]

Using the 621 Combo LNB and the 120cm dish, and have been scanning for open analog C band signals.
I have been having some good and mediocre results to report on C band analog. Some stations come in big time, a few feeds here and there from Fox, ABC (good morning america came in GREAT), Buena Vista feeds (tony Danza show was on).

When I had the borrowed receiver I have (no remote), it was stuck on Ku band. I did get the test card with it, but with this new(er) receiver it came in quite nicely.

Would I use this as a "production" setup - no way. The signals are not strong enough. I cannot see G10R where all the movie stuff is, but from what I've read - it's tough to get those even with an appropriately sized dish. For the hobbiest, it can be fun looking for the odd signal here and there.

Follow up question for Fortec users - there is an "antenna in" port on the back of the receiver, for antenna or cable input.
Right now I have the loop out port going to my C band receiver, and it's hooked to a 2nd tv so I can set the Ultra on V or H as needed, and watch C band on 2nd tv.

I'd like to eliminate that 2nd Tv, and reroute the signal from the cband receiver, into the Ultra so it flows via S-video to my regular TV. But I cant figure out how to switch the Ultra feed to anything other than the satellite input. If i turn the Ultra off, I lose capability to change V or H that goes out to the c band receiver.
Anybody know the answer to that one?

Check Sadoun's slaving diagrams for a 4DTV receiver and reverse the mentality since you are controlling the lnbf from the DVB receiver and not the 4DTV receiver. I know your receiver is not 4DTV but the concept is the same.
