    Orbital Arc - HH120/Fortec 90/Invacom QPH031/Coolsat4000

    Hello,
I appreciate your help searching for 97W.

I live in zip 33433, lat 26.3N and long 80.2W, set dish elev to 24 and motor to 34. I am getting excellent signals from 110W and 119W which are circular and connect to port 1 of 4x1 Diseqc.

Then I connect (97W) linear to port 2 of the 4x1 Diseqc but has only 77 signal and no quality.

What did I do wrong ?

Did you set port 2 for IA5 in the Coolsat setup? Is your system aligned on the arc? If it is, just set the coolsat in Usals mode and it should take you to IA5 when you select it. You have your motor set to 34, and your latitude is 26? The motor should be set to your latitude.

    Thanks Starman,
Yes, I set port2 for IA5 in my Cootsat. I assume the system is aligned on the arc because I am able to receive excellent signals from 110W and 119W in USALS mode.
Today I'll set motor elev. to my loc latitude as you suggested. I'll report what I find out.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

Ok. I set motor elev to 26 as my loc latitude, rise dish elev to 28 so total elevation is about 54 (26+28), then on screen reset dish to true south and use remote to automatically move dish to 97W. It didn't help.
    I checked 110W and 119W, I lost both sat' signals !
Must I start to locate the most southern sat first from my longitude (80W) then work it up clockwise ? Any suggestions?

your motor should be set to 26 (your lat)
Your dish elevation should be about 25.6

Using USALS, move your dish to the center of travel (reference point or whatever the screen says).
Use a compass, and align your setup so it points to 185 degrees (your true south heading). Make this as accurate as you can be.

Now, pick AMC5 on your dish, and have USALS drive the motor to it. Your dish should not move very much. This is your highest satellite on the arc. Pick 11742 as the transponder to use.
This is the UTah educaiton network and is strong and easy to find. Use a small TV next to your dish to make sure this is what you are seeing.

Now, using dish elevation and moving the whole motor/dish combination side to side on the pole, peak for best signal from AMC5. Tighten it up.

Now have the motor drive to IA5 at 97 degrees and see if you get some signal.
