    I am pretty upset

Now that I found out that all the free channels in Lyngsat I was looking at are C-band, I am pretty disappointed. The good stuff on the satellites for America is either encrypted or C-band, and very few good channels on Ku. Jeez I wish one can recieve the HOT BIRD satellites, now THEY got the real channels. I guess my best bet is T5 and G10R for good channels here. Was thinking about motorizing, but what for when there are no very interesting FTA chnls in U.S. except the ones on G10R. Sorry if I sound all mad, but I just have to say it.

In Europe and the Middle East you can receive at least 600+ FTA channels. Major satellites are:

1- Hotbird (severla Hotbird satellites in one spot)
    2- ASTRA
    3- NILE SAT
    4- ARAB Sat
    5- TurkSat

In the USA, the FTA channels are increasing with time. A couple of years ago do you remember how many FTA channels were on T5?? Very few. Today there are almost 80 TV and 40 Radio channels FTA.

C-Band used to have all the FTA channels in the USA. But C-band users are decreasing in numbers while Ku-band users are increasing. More channels will migrate to Ku-band with time.

You know, I see lots of c-band recievers that descramble VideoCipher 2. This means lots of commercial channels free, if I had a BUD!! :-) But I am happy I can reach my country's channels with FTA Ku.

    Not necessarily... free that is

You must subscribe to the channels that are VideoCipher II encrypted; even then there are those commercial channels that cannot be subscribed to since they are not intended for general viewing. While the encryption method is similar, you need a commercial receiver and a passkey to decode these channels.
