Could use a little help .. please

I have been at this for a couple of days now and have received several replies on other forums I am on; but I'm still not having much luck. I'd sure appreciate a little help.

    I have Pansat 2500A Receiver
    Fortecstar 31" Dish
Fortecstar FSKU-V LNB (Low band-10.7-11.70 High band 11.7-12.75)
FORTEC STAB HH90 DiSEqC 1.2 HH Motor

I just received these goodies about 3 days ago
I have been reading on gaining your true south which i think i may have it figured out

    MY TRUE SOUTH SATELITE ?

This is what i have figured out for my town
    latitude 33.1
    longitude 98.6

The closest town that is actually in the list on the satfinders programs is Dallas Texas
but the cordinates for dallas is slightly differant
    latitude 33
    longitude 96

I am Asuming that my true south satelite i will need to tune too will be
    Telstar 5 97.0W Or maybe Galaxy 4R 99.0W

There is actually a satelite setting at 98 degrees
    (Inmarsat 2 f2 (incl. 1.7 deg) 98.0W)
But i cant find that this bird actuall hold any channals on the lyngsat site

WHICH SHOULD i actually call my true south setting this is the part that confusses me from what i read so far if you do not get this 0'ed on correct bird then the rest will be off on settings..

    Question on Pansat 2500A

I have this flashed with alternate bin to actually do FTA would it be wise to flash it back to the correct updated bin avaible from Pansatusa.com.?

And concerning the Fortecstar FSKU-V LNB

What would the correct setting be in the pansat for this Standard, Universal 1 Universal 2 ecttttt....

    1 More ?
Which is the best to go with setting the HH motor up
    Use the Diseq 1.2 Option
    Or
    USAL Option

Just few questions before i dig the hole to plant the pipe to hold my bird catcher

    Many Thanks on responses

I am pulling in a few stations that are showing to be DVB i thought that DVB was scrambled and also they do not show that this is a TRUE FTA being free its just a change doing this can scan the skys see whats hanging out there...

    AMC 4 at 101.0°W
    11991 H tp 14 WVGN-LP (NBC - Virgin Islands) DVB 2000-3/4
    4194 4195 E North America R Bode 050103

I have read how to find my true south satellite and how to install my motor; but I just seem to be fumbling around in the dark .. and am getting really frustrated ..

Use USALS to move your dish.

    The key points are:

    1. set your dish to zero and alighn everything to your magneticlly corrected true south. Use a compass to find south, and find your magnetic correction, and add/subtract from 180 to get the real number to line up on.

    2. Now that you are on this, use USALS to drive your motor to the highest satellite on the arc for your location (the so called "true south satellite").
In your case, I would use IA5 at 97.

    3. Now adjust the dish elevation and motors mount on the poile to get highest quality signal you can achieve (do not adjust motor bracket tilt).

    update on my situation

I finally figured it out actually 91 was my true south bird

What i did was to tune to Galaxy 11 (91 degrees which is nimiq 1 also)

I used sat signal meter to tune in KU band is alot weaker signal then dss stream harder to hit and dam close together only 4 degree intervals..

But once i was tuned in to Galaxy 11 TP1 i went into my menu selected
USAL setting as motor movement control

Inserted my Logitude 96 Lattitude as 33 my declination was a -5 degrees
making my true satelite be 91 degrees.

When i did the save it moved to motor 5 degrees to the WEST
Then i tweaked my whole setup 5 degrees back to the EAST

And then my dish HH motor was set True South 96 degrees

Now when i setup like 97.0°W Intelsat Americas 5 (T5) it will auto move 6 degrees west and willget signal and quility strength.

....... time to let it scan the birds to see what all i catch in the net

I sure hope my brother in law appreciates this. Now to save my pennies for my own set up ..

Great forum here guys, I never would have gotten this done w/o reading all the valuable info here .. keep up the good work

No I think you got this wrong....

    1. The settings for your LAT/LONG in the settings menu should NOT be adjusted for magnetic adjustment. Set them to your true lat/long.

    2. You line everything up, with the motor on ZERO (centered) at your manetically corrected south. (180 plus/minus whatever it is, you say -5 OK) so set the motor and dish pointing directly at 175. Do NOT point to any satellite or attempt to get a signal. Simply line everything up to 175 on comass.

    3. Now go in and set the lag/long to your true location. Pick IA5 as the satellite, and DRIVE THE MOTOR TO THAT SAT. NOW is the time to peak for best signal. The face of the motor is still pointing towards 0, and the dish as moved over a few degrees to IA5.

THat is the correct way to do this.
    Good luck.
