New Pictures: 100CM dish

I ordered one of these FM100 floor mounts and it came today. However I don't know how to drive the "Anchor Bolts" into the floor (due to weird bolt design)...apparently they're supposed to anchor the base frame to my wooden balcony floor. But judging by this example picture showing these anchor bolts laying next to the mounted pole they are not even being used for that stated purpose. Should I just forget about these "Anchor Bolts" and get some 1/4 inch hex head self driving screws from my local hardware store?

The bolts you see are used with concrete floors. If you have a wooden platform, use lag screws.

What size lag screw do people recommend? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, depends what you are mounting the dish on (ie: how thick the wood mounting base is) but I would not go less than 3/8" by 2 3/4" lag screws.

Thanks for the size info. I think my baseboard is 2'' x 4''. I will get the 3/8 * 2 3/4 tomorrow. Maybe I should stick with 3/8 * 2, huh?

Well, that depends on whether you can see the ends of the lag screws protruding through the underside of the 2X4. If you can't, then no big deal; let them protrude. If you can see them then I suggest using lag bolts rather than screws; at least it looks cleaner to see a nut and bolt rather than a sharp screw; safer too.

I went live today and I'm up and running now. I have my 80cm dish tracing the sky very nicely. I was able to install the FM100 floor mount to my wooden balcony using 3/8" x 2" lag screws. I had to play around with my left/right mast positioning to get good signal quality. Also the dish elevation calculations for HH90 rotor on Sadoun calculator page are a little off, what should have been 38.6 degree dish EL wound up being closer to 42 for me. Also my true south sat (amc6) had absolutely nothing on it, which threw me a little bit but amc3 and the others worked out.

So far FTA seems cool. Now I just have to find the "good" stations
