    Question Initial Motorized Setup

I have read some of the forums and am confused a little about the initial setup of a motorized dish. My longitude is 85.4W, lattitude is 31.2N and my southern most satellite is 85W. After I have the motor and dish setup at the correct angle and pointing due South (183 degrees using compass) do I move the dish by hand to find 85W with the motor still on zero or do I use USALS to move it to 85W and then do the fine adjustments? Thanks for any advice.

You may find a difference of opinon here but you should set you dish on zero have your bolts that hold the motor a little loose and move your dish a little at a time maybe a 1/16 of an inch east or west. That way your most south satellite will be at zero and USALS will work properly.

Thanks Jim for your reply. I have read on the forum different opinion's on this matter. I was setting motor at zero and using USALS going to my most Southern satellite and haven't had much luck. Tomorrow I will try the way you said and see how that works. Again thanks for your reply and if any others have an opinion about this I'd love to read what you have to say.
