Old Fortec 90 cm dish with hh motor and lnb

Hi everyone, a long time ago, i picked up the package deal from sadoun,
    1. fortech lifetime ultra
    2. 90 cm dish with LNB
    3. HH Motor

I mounted this on a pole and had it working and was able to lock in a few channels here and there, mostley stuff i couldent understand as i only speak english !
anyways I havent had it working in about 2-3 years and was wondering is this a KU lnb that came with the unit and dish ?
Im thinking about upgrading to one of the HD stb's so i can try wild feed hunting..
    1. what new receiver do you suggest ?
    2. Will i have to replace that LNB ? or will the one i have be ok ?
    Thanks
    PbS

    Hi PBS,

    Welcome here.

The LNBF you have should be fine.

Before you get a new HD receiver, I recommend getting the system you have up and running first. Get the dish aligned (if it is not aligned on the arc yet).

Swapping the receivers should be easy.

There isn't a big choice of HD receivers on the market yet. Hopefully, we will have a Fortec HD receiver soon. Once I get the chance of reviewing the new receiver and if all are well, we will post it on our website.

Hey sadoun, Thanks I will try and get it up and running, is there a certain sat that i should try and aim at to get my first signal ? Im in Michigan and I think that was my problem from the start, I mounted the pole, its plum... but tried to lock in on telstar 5, now ive heard its changed... or 97 w.. not sure anymore
after getting confussed and frustrated i should have never.. i repete.. never... loosened up those bolts... cause i know its not aimed /tilt ect.. on the pole.... and thats what i have to do is get that part right..
On the LNBF are they all standard KU's ? or is it the freq that makes them differant from each other ?

I think you should have a UNIVERSAL lNBF. Check the model # on it. If it says ULN1 then it is. Also, LO frequency is 9750/10600, 22KHz=ON

97W is a good satellite to start with.

Check the instructions on installing a motorized system here:

Ill check that info in the AM... and read those instructions on the motor..... if i recall i could only get the motor to move a little bit to the right and to the left.. so at that point i didnt think i was going to pick up anything !
as a newbie when we hear motor ....were thinking that this thing is going to do a 180 around the pole ! and then up and down to boot !
