    Install Help

    Hi all,
I live on the Island of Freeport In The Bahamas which is about 98 miles southwest of Florida. I have been trying for sometime to receive any fta bird. I have 31" fortec dish, sg2100 motor,Invacom four port lnbf and a viewsat receiver. I can receive signals from sats that we are not allowed to talk about in this forum ( 110 and 119). I am only interested in fta sats any fta sat in my area. There is no zip code in The Bahamas which makes it difficult to get my exact coordinates.
    Thanks for your help

"is no zip code in The Bahamas which makes it difficult to get my exact coordinates"

    Borrow a handhelp GPS unit.
That will show you your true coor-dinates.

    From there, dishpointer.com can help.

use this satellite as your "most true south" sat:

    SBS at 74W

    Use this transponder: 11733 H 6616

Set your dish to zero and point to about 185 magnetic degrees on compass.

From there, have the motor drive to 74W sat. It wont move much.

    Find signal on 11733H

That should put you on the arc.
Make sure you are using the "L" port on LNBF.

Asuming that you are using a QPH031 LNB make sure you have it with the correct frequencies for the lineal ports, also make sure you have the appropriate switching device for the LNB.
On behalf of this forum allow me to invite you to read the rules.

Thanks for the help guys I was able to use dishpointer to get my coordinates. Now I am not sure how to enter my coordinates which are lat 26.5295 and long -78.6816. how do you enter a negative degree e.g -78.6816? and I am only allowed to enter three digit of the coordinates, how do you enter the other three? and how do you know which direction to enter at the end of coordinates eg. W,E N,S?
    PMB1010 I don"t see tp 11733. There are only 11937 and 11741,

    -76.8 is the same as

    76.8W

    Store those in USALS settings.

EDIT - this is "Standard" LNBF so use 10750.
There should be settings to set the selected LNBF to that.
Cycle thru the settings till you find them.

74W Sat entry in the factory setup file should have 11734H - it's been there for years. Add it manually if it ain't there. I can't speak for Viewsat receivers but the Fortecs have them.

    11734 H

For the Invacom 4 port LNB I think you want to set your receiver to Linear and not Universal. Make sure your cable is connected to only the Linear jack of the LNB. You can play around with connecting to a switch after you have your dish pointed well. Most FTa sats are linear and not circular. The Dishnet 110 and other pay services are usually Circular. You can check out Lyngsat to see which are which. They have a symbol next to the channels for L (left circular), R (right circular), V (vertical linear) and H (horizontal linear). If you scan through Lyngsat.com you will find that most sats are linear, and the only a few are circular Ku.
    good luck.
VA 39N, 78W, Mercury II, Fortec 31", 36", 72", SG2100, DG-280, H180 (two DSR-922's sitting in a closet and to be the next project) HDTV TV with no pay tv.
