I really appreciate your help. I tried everything I could on my own with all the forums and searching. I learned a lot but I am sure I am still missing something here.
I am trying to set my viewsat extreme 2000 to receive from the Galaxy 19 (97w). I have downloaded the new sat list for that receiver that shows that sat.
I have purchased from Sadoun the following:
Dish: 90N, 36in Fortec Star
LNB: ULN2 Sadoun Universal Dual KU LNBF
My zip code is 07013, I tried my best to follow the following settings:
Elevation 37.3, Azimuth (magnetic) 225.9
LNB Skew: 24.2
I have confirmed with the iphone software that the line of sight is clear.
my LNB Skew and Elevation are close but not exact. I cannot confirm them to be 100% exact due to the nature of the equipment. They are basically within a degree or three because the Dish and the LNB do not provide a 100% exact way of confirming. I set them to the best of my abilities and I was hoping to adjust from there once I have some good signal strength and quality as I normally do with other birds like Dish Network in the past.
My issue is I have 82% signal strength (lowest on any random position is always 55% for whatever reason) but the quality is always at 0%
I tried to scan the azimuth from 175 through 275 a couple of degrees at a time while trying few variation in the elevation to force a full range scan but still no joy. I was never greeted with a faint quality signal.
Blind scan always returns nothing too.
My Viewsat Extreme settings are:
LNB: Universal
LNB High: 10750
TP: 11966
I am not sure what to do next short of calling for a professional installation, That will be in my book a sign of defeat though
I am hoping that my LNB is good. my concern is why the signal strenth is never low when I am at a random location. I learned to never assume the equipment is bad though.
I have now the TV and the receiver next to the Dish so I can monitor visually the signal while moving the dish by hand.
I appreciate any hint here guys. I even tried to reverse the LNB skew as I assumed I might have understood the settings incorrectly. It is now on counter clock wise but I tried both.

Thanks for the tip. I was considering that and elevating the dish by 5 degrees as some posts stated that the elevation was a factor as well.
I have much better news now. I do have some quality.
The quality is flickering though from 0 to 34 on most transporters and can go to 74% on a couple of them.
I tried to adjust the skew and minor adjustments to the dish but that was the best I could get for that.
I have no channels though. I am trying blind scan now to see if I happen to be pointing to the wrong bird but I am not sure what flickering quality from 0 to 34 (74 on some tps) means. I appreciate any hint here but I can sense that success might not be that far. Man, the sight of some quality was a real something after a whole week of trials.
I'm not sure how to get into advanced settings on that receiver,but if you could find that and just leave it on the 11966 H 22000 Freq.and SR.,make small adjustments up and down on the elevation,and move it left or right slowly for quality on 11966.If you get some quality showing on that Freq,then just lift up or push down on the dish to see if you need to raise or lower elevation.Make sure to pause a little when sweeping left to right to give it time to lock the signal.After you get some quality on it,then you can adjust skew,elevation,and azimuth for the highest quality you can get.Good luck.![]()
put your motor at center / zero / go to reference or whatever it takes to get it there
point the whole thing to 193 degrees using a good compass.
Stand away from the dish turn around and look back at it as the compass points thru you to 193. Look at the dish's LNB arm to be straight at you.
Use 74W as your highest satellite to line up with.
Using USALS enter your location coordinates in the approrpiate spot
Set the transponder to 74W to 11734 H 6616
Have the motor drive to 74W. It will only move a small amount. If it moves a lot - you have something wrong.
Now look for the signal by moving the dish elevation up & down from your calculated setting and very slightly moving the whole motor & bracket on the pole side to side (mark 0 with a magic marker so you can get back to the right spot)
You should be able to find some quality. Adjust for highest qual reception and snug up the bolts. Scan the sat. THe transpnder shown should be Ohio News Network.
If you do find that you are on the arc. Now you can move to say 97w and scan that to see how well you are aligned and tweak ever so slightly as necessary.

Thank you guys for your help so far. I think I made more progress but I have one more question.
The dish now is perfectly aligned to the right Azimuth, I had to have it pointing higher by 7 degrees to get some signal.
The signal is very flaky though one or two degree adjustment to any direction will kill it. The lnb skew is on the right setting as well.
The signal quality basically fluctuates from 0 to 34% in some TPs and o to 64 for others but the quality is not consistent enough to get a lock.
That said, I looked up. I found literally 4 wires from the pole across the street coming to my house right on top of the dish perfectly aligned with Galaxy 19 as if they were there to point the way all along. They are basically the utilities: electricity, cable, Phone and internet.
I assume that this must have been the reason all along that I have a flaky signal for Galaxy 19 and that I probably should move it as far away from that area as possible.
I appreciate it if someone can confirm that wires on a bird's path are definitely the cause here.

Blind scan found one channel, Wright Patterson. That is strange, I am not sure now if the bird found is Galaxy 19 as lyngsat does not have a channel with that now. oh well
you leave the lnbf straight up and down when it's on a dish (no manual skew). The dish tilting takes care of it.
Did you find ONN on 74W?
You really need that one to know where you are..
The dish is not using a motor (it is fixed) so I figured I need to skew the lnb, right ?
hmm, I guess I found Galaxy 26 actually on 93w but the signal is very faint and unstable. just wondering if I better move the dish or that signal quality is due to the fact that Galaxy 26 is actually having issues as reported elsewhere.
