1st Time FTA Setup Assistance Request

Hello...I purchased 39" fta motorized dish/antenna set up (w/Moteck SG-2100 HH motor (they came as a package) and have a CoolSat 7000 receiver and I am having trouble getting any signal quality AT ALL, when trying to pick up 123W or 97W when using the linear input on LNB. The mast is level and plumb and we reviewed/used your video to set it all up; it was very helpful. My Level of signal is pretty good, about 71-73%, but No Quality of signal At All. I'm surburb east of KCMO- my Long. is -94.32; Lat. 39.3. Any suggestions on how I may get Quality signal to then be able to Search for/find the true fta satelites 123W or 97W (or others)? Also, does cloudy weather effect this? Any help or guidedance will be very much appreciated by this True FTA Rookie! Thanking you in advance for your assistance and have a good day!...twobears

Have you checked your true south first.
By the coordinates you provide your true south is Galaxy 3C located at 95°W.
Have you checked the frequency of your linear LNB. You don't specify what brand you use but your comment leads me to believe you are using an invacom QPH031. If that is the case the frequency is 10750 on your receiver.
Make sure the LNB is set for 0° SKEW as assembled on the LNB holder.
SKEW is critical for linear applications.
Do not expect to receive strong signals. There are a few exceptions, but everything on linear averages 60% quality.
Enter your coordinates on USALS while your antenna is parked at the reference point, the USALS will calculate how much to move in reference to the other satellites degrees.

    Very Frustrated with Dish setup

I have been trying for 4 days to set up my satellite dish. My lattitude is 41 and longtitude is 76. What satellite do I try to get? Do I set it up to get whatever comes in then hope others will come in based on that setting when the motor moves? Sorry to sound so dumb about this but I am going nuts with this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You attempted to hijack this post, start your own post with your problem and someone will help you...not a good start...

You also should supply a lot more information,

    dish size
    lnb type
    motorized or not
what is your true south satellite, is it C or Ku or both
    any switches
    receiver model
    cable type and length
are you using the angle charts or a satellite meter
is your compass a regular one or is it declination adjustable
what satellite are you expecting to find
have you watched the installation video's and read any how to's
Please don't PM me directly for information, answers to almost all your questions are in the FORUMS.
    Some reading is required.

1st Time FTA Setup Assistance Request

Thx so much for the help and suggestions...I'll try them and yes, I do have the QPH031 Quad LNB; can u tell me what switch I need between the LNB & motor to be able to use Circular and Linear both at same time, without having to manually switch the coax from L to C on LNB? I'll read up in forum while waiting on clearer weather to try to "fine tune" by hand again. I'll keep u posted on status/progress...thx again...! twobears :-)

Use a DiSEqC switch.............but set up your system first without the switch. Just use the "L" side of your LNB for now.
Remember to turn off your receiver and remove the coax from receiver, when you make coax changes at the dish, this will protect the LNB and the switch when you get one hooked up.
