Smile hey guys, got 1 more ? (okay 2 ?'s)

I had given up, and was gettin ready to box everything up when I had a brainstorm. On the cable between the LNB and the receiver was a splice. I took the splice out and went directly to the receiver. Now I'm getting signal. The splice was bad. I pointed the dual LNB toward 93w and 97w. I'm not getting anything from 93w, but I've lots of channels from 97w. Real good picture too. (91% level, 87% quality)

My problem is I have sound with regular tv and even with the extended signal meter in the menu, but none comin from satellite channels. I've checked all the hook ups in the back, everything is snug and hooked up right. Could it be the cable I'm using? It's rg6, but it doesn't say digital on it. Any suggestions?

Also, I thought about going from 93w/97w to 97w/101w. have any suggestions or info on that?

Congrats. Galaxy 25 has lots of things to watch. You likely need to find the audio settings in your receiver setup menu and get that right. The beeping signal meter indicates the cables are all good, (video and audio to the TV). The RG6 cable is fine also, else you would not be getting anything. Keep at it- you are very close now.

    great

Looks like you got it. The splice in the cable must have been the problem.
Yes, check the settings for sound. There are so many buttons and gizmos on the receivers that there may be just one thing. Remember though, there are a few channels on the sats that require Dolby decoding. Do a search for dolby decoders on this forum and you will learn more. The PBS stations on sat 87 are all dolby decoded except for the one in Montana.

Now for the dual LNB you will have of only two degrees apart or something like that (maybe it is 4 on yours) that the two can aim at... So your sats that you can pull in need to be that far apart. 97 is good with about 100 FTA stations, and 101 has more FTA stations than 93, but your LNBs need to be set up for 4 degree separation.
It seems that 93 now only has the Macy's station which may only have clothing presentations during work days.

I don't know whether your VCR could get sound. The question is.. do you get sound on some of the stations received? If so, then you are just not getting the dolby... you would need either a tuner or home theater system with a dolby decoder. I think my receiver only has an optical output, so I had to get a home theater system that had an optical in.

If you are not getting sound on any of the stations, then I think your problem would lie with the receiver. You would have to confirm all the settings in the receiver. My receiver also has a sound offset for each station so I can make it louder or lower. Perhaps that may be your problem.

I have turned to some stations and not gotten sound, but when I flick back to them, the sound comes on. I don't know what might cause that, but it may be a tuning issue.

    best of luck

I'm not getting any sound whatsoever from satellite. I can turn the satellite off, I have sound, Turn it on, no sound on any channel. Got great picture though. My wife and I have been making up the storyline as we watch these channels, entertaining ourselves. We would like sound though. Anymore suggestions?

Read the manual. It will have an area about audio. Unplug the rwd aand white RCA jacks from the back of the receiver, with tv sound turned up you should get buzz by touching the center pins. Read the manual again.

Tune to something on 97 that has a clear picture, look at the remote settings and find the audio button. Push it once.

Did I say read the manual?
