Home Ent Systems A home theater system is a combination of electronic components designed to recreate the experience of watching a movie in a theater. When you watch a movie on a home theater system, you are more immersed in the experience than when you watch one on an ordinary television.

Tivo to Laptop to DVD?

I have the HD Tivo with the server software. I moved a tv show I taped on Tvio to my laptop. How can I burn the windows movie file to a DVD that can be played on any DVD player? (I haven't wired by Tivo to by DVD burner on my home entertainment system. I like having my C-band connected to the DVD burner more)

Thanks,

Thanks,
Is that the format it saves in on the PC? Ie Windows Movie File format? That's strange. Is that the only option?

I don't have a HD TIVO. I've been thinking of getting one, but if they save in that format, I'm not sure.
I can extract files from my old standard def series I TIVOs, and they come down in a .TY or .TMF format, which is very close to being a .mpg file, and there are programs that will convert them into .mpg files. I have a program called VideoReDo, which is really nice. It allows you to edit video files of multiple formats, and one version of the program will directly burn to DVD after editing, although I never bother doing that, as I just play them directly from the .mpg files. VideoReDo just recently added the capability of working with TIVO files. It seems to work on some, but not all of my old series I .ty files. I don't think it works on .wmv files though, and I"m not sure if that's the same as windows movie file format, or maybe you mean the windows movie maker format, but even if it did, I think there is likely to be a significant reduction in quality. I have some other programs that will do Windows Media files and movie maker files, but the quality never seemed to be as good as .mpg files, but it may have just been the settings I used.
