splitter

Can I split the line in to the motor to run two recievers (one at a time of corse) or will I lose too much power at the splitter to turn the dish?

This can be dangerous.

If you use an ordinary non-power-blocking satellite splitter, then one receiver at a time could power and operate the motor and power the LNBF. The problem you can get into is when you (accidently) leave both receivers powered on and connected. They can then fight over which will provide power and how much. Eventually, one receiver will probably lose, usually in a dramatic way.

With a power-blocking splitter, one receiver must be the master, always on to power things and select the polarization.

A safe and probably acceptable approach would be to use one and only one receiver as the master control for the motor, and install a dual LNBF on the dish to give each receiver its own feed.

Thats kind of what I thought but I wanted the flexiablity of turning the dish from either receiver, my master reciever is a Neusat and it has a link output that I can run to the pansat in the basement. I was trying to avoid running another line down there since I already have 2 at the dish that enter the house in the basement. Thanks for your help.

You could run a simple AB box. Run both receivers into the AB box and a single line to the motor. Now you are assured only one box at a time can control the system BUT you will only be able to use one box at a time unless you actually devised some schematic utilizing loop out on each receiver so that if you were on A receiver 1 would control the system and through it's loop out you could run a DC pass on one leg splitter into the other receiver and the reverse out of the other for when B was activated. It is late so I am not thinking all straight right now as to how to wire all this to make it work correctly without potential damage to the other unit.

It is conceivable to do though in my mind at this hour

That's what I have: I cannot be present at both rooms at the same time, and I have an A/B switch, and I try to power down both receivers before switching. Nothing got burnt yet.

Using 2 Rx's

In reading all the posts regarding this issue of two rx into one HH motor, I couldn't determine if it would be okay to split the signal in and out of the motor to two diseqc's when you plan on having only one rx powered up at any one time. Would there be any conflict in this type of operation?
