Exclamation Which angle shall I use on my dish??

Hello everybody! I mated a 110x100 cm dish with a Satcontrol SM3D22 motor and set the scale on the motor to my latitude which is 38.72 N. Now I've come to the point I can't go any further. Using Satlex I came up with this numbers: my zenith elevation is 45.20º, my declination is -6.08 and dish has a 24.62º offset angle. How do I calculate the angle I should use on my dish's scale? Should I subtract the declination and the offset from the elevation? I also have another problem I have no marks on my dish's scale...

Check instructions for SM3D12 on Sadoun's website:
http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installati...stallation.htm
Check the pictures too, it will give you an idea, where marks should be, if you have a similar hardware. Dish elevation is [46.5 - X ], where X is declination angle, for your latitude it's about 6.1, so you should set dish elevation to 40 - 41 degrees

I am not sure. I guess, I did not care about offset angle, because I had marks on my dish bracket. So it was already calculated

Thumbs up Thank u

Thank u for your help. I measured my dish and I inputed the data on http://www.satlex.de/pt/antef_calc.html on the calculator and I got my offset angle. My dish is 1m10 by 1m, if it was perfectly round, 1m by 1m, the offset angle would be zero degrees. So I'm just asking if your dish is round... thank u again for your help.

No, it's not round, it's 76 x 81.2:
http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/F...sh-antenna.htm
Also, what is interesting, Sadoun sells a separate Pole Mount Bracket, fitting both 90cm and 80cm dishes, and they have different offset angles! I cannot confirm that scale on my bracket is calculated for offset angle, sorry about that.
Maybe someone else on this forum has a clue? Manufacturer, dealer? How do you suppose to set an angle for just one satellite, with no motor, if there is no scale?

Red face

If there is no scale I suppose that one just has to use an inclinometer, which is what I am using 2 measure angles... I'm prayin that the scale has the offset in mind otherwise I'll have 2 change the angle on my dish again. My south alignment is off and it's getting quite hard to manage cause I have a powerstation less than 500 m from my house, I believe the powerlines are shifting the compass...

get close to yor true south. set the angles move the dish and motor together on the pole east and west to get signal. if no signal change elevation on dish by 1 degree and try east to west again. continue to do this to you get a signal then peak the signal for highest quality.
