This MUST have been asked before but...here goes anyway.....Can you buy a receiver or positioner for a ku band dish that tells you exactly where the dish is pointing? It is such a pain when you're trying to bring in a sat and all your receiver tells you is "move east" or "move west". So you're going back and forth trying to peak a sat and before you know it you're way past where you wanna be. So when you exit out to start over the dish takes xx seconds to get back to the starting point. I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. It seems like a no-brainer to me to be able to setup your dish the first time to the zero mark on your motor. Then there should be a meter or something in the dish positioner part of the receiver software that tells you where, in degrees your dish is pointing. That way you would know exactly where you are and if you have overshot your mark. Is that so hard?? Am I missing something?? Anybody know of such a device for sale?? Thanks in advance and I'd like to hear everyones comments.
No your not missing much... I've always wanted to know where the motor is pointing but unfortunatley there is no other way but to look at it lol. I believe the manufacturers can do something in the firmware to add these features but apparently they dont care about this.
I have thought of the web cam idea but haven't done it yet. If someone made a receiver with this feature I bet they would sell at least a zillion of them. Somebody, please!!! If you build it, they will come...............
You can always use a Birdog to help locate which one your pointed at. It will tell you exactly where your pointed. I love mine. It makes it a helluva lot easier to find your sats.
