No switch box detected error

I am trying to setup a new Dish 500, with one sw-21 to combine the two signals from my two LNB's. I used rg6 cable to route it to my receiver, but the receiver picks up no signal at all. When I do a switch test, I get the error no switch box detected. I checked all the connections, all were finger tight, same error. I disconnected the sw-21 I was given, and tried the 2nd that came with the dish. Same error, no signal, no switch box detected.
I am clueless now as to what the problem could be, I am using a 1000 receiver that works on another dish I have at the house. The cabling is brand new from Radio Shack, the dish I got used but is guaranteed not DOA. Any help or suggestions, I am lost.

Try each LNB by itself to see if you get signal. I gather you are aiming at 119 and 110. If you get signal with each LNB separately (no SW21) but error messages after running the "Check Switch", then either both SW21s are bad (I've had this happen before -- very unlikely but possible) OR you have a bad cable - likely from the switch to the receiver.

I have also run into this before. 1000 are very stubborn machines.
if you made your own cables check that a piece of braid is not touching the copper core. also distance try for less than 100.ft
The short cables between sw21 and dish must be rg6.

Thanks for the help, I found a switch to work and was able to verify all the LNB's are working. I setup the dish on the house, but have only been able to get 110 or 119, not both at the same time. I had the hardest time finding 119 at all, I am in 90803, and I just kept it at 119 because at least I get most of the channels for now.

Having the same problem?

I am having the same problem with the no switch box detected. I am using RG6 wires and have checked each LNB, I have also checked two different SW21 switches and even bought an expensive RCA multiswitch and am still experiencing the problem does anybody have any solutions.
