Dish sighting in Problems, help please?!?!
I am not able to sight in 119 on my dish pro system....it worked when I had it professionally installed, but now moved north, and can't sight it in. I Do however get 110 coming through the first LNB when it should be coming in through the second one. I have tried moving the dish to the west 9 degrees like the book tells me to but have no luck. I have tried skewing but no such luck. Might my LNB be bad?? I tried another single dish from Bell and from Direc but can't sight it in singly either. its like the satellite is not in the sky. Can any pro's out there help a guy out. Since I have 110 out of the wrong LNB how would you direct me to move the dish, and what skew/azimuth, elevation. As per your data and satellite locator my supposed degrees are supposed to be 198 azimuth, 30 deg high and 11.5 LNB polarization + tilt for Regina, Saskatchewan. Any pro's out there, or anyone smarter than me, I am desperate, will almost pay someone to line it up for me, and if thats what it takes hmmm......might my reciever be broken?? I tried 2 recievers (one legit and one not), same results

try removing the 110 lnbf altogether, and then keying in on 119.what are you using to find signal?the receiver? 8)

sounds like you might have a bad lnb or jumper cable as well...is this the twin lnb?(one piece)?.If so,it coud be a bad internal switch.

dual LNB Dish 311
I was reading back in other postings and think I may need to try another cable. One reciever is a 311 dishpro, the other is a 301 non dishpro, both dual LNB.
WHy would there be two bad LNB's, both unrelated, or why would there be two bad recievers uncapable of picking up the same satellite?
On the other post I saw I noticed the guy could only pick up odd transponder signal, I only get some odd transponders on bird 110, eg trans 3,15,17,25.
anywho, thanks for trying to help me, does this help you to help me??

i am assuming you are using 2 single lnb's and a sw 21.
not a twin or dish pro twin
first you should do a check switch without the sat coax connected.
all xxxxx will show.
plug coax back in
(direct to dish no switch)
at this point checkmark 119 and use transponder 11
check that post is level. side and front. (important)
put the skew to 0 or 90 degrees.
only use 1 lnb in 119 side of yolk.
find singnal.
skew the dish
119 signal will mostlikly drop a little.
lock in dish to post(tighten screws)
adjust elevation will not be more than 1 degree up or down
lock dish down.
take lnb and switch to 110 side.
check mark sat 110 and use transponder 10.
unplug machine/and plug back in
preform check switch(connect switch)
sometimes may need to be done twice

gizmo;..since I do not use DN switches, dishteam's method seems ideal to me.I installed 3 DN 500's yesterday,so the bird is still up there.Removing the switch during installation will help find your problem. The less connections, switches, jumpers, etc, between the LNB and receiver the better.

hmmm
well I think the cable I was using was playing a huge problem for me. I have marked 110 and 148 (which I can pick up on transponder 11, 110 at 65 power, and just going back and forth between the two trying to find 119 on transponder 11 to start, , but you had some good ideas trying the low two and high two transponders. had to stop for supper LOL.
I have both a DishPro system (dual LNB and 311 reciever) and a non DishPro (301 and dual LNB, I do know you cannot interchange the two. So if you think a single LNB will (should) site it in I might use that first. I am making progress, but slow.

Nahh
I still can't get it, only got 110 and 148, nothing in between, I am ready to give up. Or pay someone to set it up for me, I just don't know.

gizmo;...start from square one.go to installation, dish pointing, and navigate to the zip code area.type in zip,and your dish 500 specs should come up.set your skew, elevation, and the pan to what you think is the compass heading.Use only 1 lnb...and no switch between the lnb and receiver.when you get signal(you should navigate to 110 or 119) move the assembly to the other side(per dishpro's instructions).Use a shorty 8 or 10 footer and take the receiver and a small tv w/ you to the area where the dish is located.

ahah
believe it or not, I got it. I was told by someone in the city here that geographically it is impossible to use a small dish500 dish to pick up 119, now using a larger 24" bell dish and getting 40-55% response on transponders (so I am not losing it)
I have a 30" dish on order, so it should get better. I will just have to use a switch and two dishes to make it work, but oh well. Just glad I can get some channels now.
