Greetings!
At home I have a six rcvr
installation....but that's not the problem. :-)
I just bought a SeaTel 1898 "Marine Stabilized Dish" for my boat. It's basically a dish with servo motors and logic to stabilize reception on a boat that's moving around.
My question is two-part:
1. I did a dry hook-up on the boat this past weekend, and notice that the dish has two coax outputs...I'm guess Sat A = 110, Sat B = 119 (Which I set up the system to track)...but the reciever has one input. Do I need some kind of switch (like an SW21, SMS-4), or just a simple splitter/y-cord to end up with ONE input for my (single) receiver?
1.a - I have a 4-way multi-switch called a "Regal SMS-4". It has three inputs and lines for four receives. Inputs are labelled "LHCP 13V", "VHF/UHF 40-860mhz", and "RHCP 18V". Would I run the coax's from the dish to the LHCP and RHCP inputs then connect "Rcvr1" to my single receiver? Am I over-complicating this?
2. I did hook up one of the coax's (just one) to the receiver. I was able to get one satellite to show a nice strong signal...Then when I watched the TV, I got the "Welcome to DISH" station (ya know, the one that says how to do PPV's, how to use the remote, etc...), but when I tried to watch something simple, like CNN, I got a "Smart Card is not programmed for this channel - press channel up/down" (or something to that effect. Did I do something wrong? This WAS a receiver that was working at home, so I don't get it. DISH Tech Support said I had to wait 24 hours or something.
Can someone help me out? I'm kind've freaked out that I spend a butt-load of dough on this SeaTel Dish and it didn't work right out of the box. I'm hoping someone will say "put a simple splitter on the two COAX's from the dish, and connect the other end to the receiver, turn it on and wait for some code to download" - OR - "Hook up your SMS-4 Multi-Switch, connect receiver one to the output and RELAX". ...but it's kind hard when the boat is 60 miles from my house. :-)
Can someone fix me up?
Thanks,
Jeff
