Some help/ advice need (322 for existing customers?)

Called DishNetwork to tell them of our impending move and request the "DishMover" promo to get hooked up at the new location.... asked them about the 322 receiver and was told that it wasn't available to existing customers, specifically because that equipment was leased to new customers and not available for purchase. However, I have noticed the 322s are being sold on various sites. I would love to be able to set up viewing in 2 additional rooms without paying the extra $4.99/ month.
Here's my questions:
Can I buy a 322, call DishNetwork and have them activate the new reciever? Will they do this or refuse to since I am not leasing it?

Also -would I be able to continue service if I simply purchased the reciever and put the card from my current reciever in the new 322?

Any advice on a work-around to avoid getting dinged an extra $5 each month? Thanks for your help.....

For the receiver 322 to work you need 2 lines coming out from the dish into the receiver and one more line going from the receiver to the other room where the other TV is. Beside getting the receiver I believe you need to get a different LNB (triple) to get your existing receiver and the 322 to work in 3 rooms. 322 requires phone line connected to at at all times and also involving 3 hols and 3 cables running in your building.

Gawd, what a PIA. I sure hope ExpressVu doesn't bring out their equivalent model of the 322...

...but they probably will...

TO HOOK UP A 322 TO YOUR EXISTING SYSTEM YOU WILL NEED A QUAD LNB OR A SWITCH DP34. THAT IS YOU HAVE DISHPRO EQUIPMENT NOW. IF YOU HAVE LEGACY EQUIPMENT, YOU WILL NEED A LEGACY QUAD LNB OR SWITCH 64. USING AN ADDITIONAL DISH FOR THE 322 IS ANOTHER WAY. ANYWAY YOU LOOK AT IT. IT IS A LOT OF HASSLE TO SAVE FIVE BUCKS A MONTH. IF YOU DONT KEEP THE 322 HOOKED UP TO THE PHONE LINE IT WONT WORK. YOU CAN GET IT TO WORK BY CALLING DISH UP AND THE WILL THROW A SWITCH, BUT GUESS WHAT. THAT COSTS FIVE BUCKS A MONTH. ADD UP THE COST OF THE 322, LNBS/SWITCHES, ADDITIONAL CABLE, LABOR AND YOU WILL FIND THAT AT FIVE BUCKS A MONTH, YOU WILL NEED ABOUT FIVE YEARS JUST TO BREAK EVEN. THEN CONSIDER THE UNSIGHTLYNESS OF THREE HOLES IN THE WALL (INSTEAD OF 1) AND THREE RG6 RUNS. ALSO A FAILURE OF THE RECIEVER MEANS TWO ROOMS WITHOUT TV UNTIL RECEIVER IS REPLACED.

Yeah good points Dishadvantae:

Its much simpler, cheaper and better looking to use a multiswitch outside and have dedicated receivers at each TV. This dual-tuner business is for the birds.... Only good thing about it is you can finally watch one show and record another - but how many peeps actually do that anyway?
