PLEASE, JUST A QUESTION

Hello,

I just want to get GOL tv from Echostar 8. I know this is a FTA channel.
Can I get the signal with any dishnetwork receiver + dish?
I could buy a used one from ebay.
My cable tv provider does not offer GOL tv.

I live in Massachusets.

Thanks,

Barcelones

Yes you can get signal with any Dish rec, you will need a subscription to view that channel though. It's scrambled.

Re: PLEASE, JUST A QUESTION

GolTV has been FTA since day one. Very nice channel for soccer fan.
Any DishNet/DirectTV dish with a FTA DVB receiver will work.

Your original post asked if it was available via a dishnet receiver, in FTA like the NASA channel. It is not. According to my Dishnet 510 PVR it is a subscription service.

From the above post, sounds like it's availble via a FTA DVB receiver.

Before I buy a receiver

Thanks for your help,

I am trying to decide between a FTA receiver or a dvb pc card.
I like the idea of a dvb card because of the PVR function, but I want to check if It works.
I am thinking in the Hauppauge Nova-s DVB-S PCI Card with IR Remote Control or the Vision Plus TwinHan TH102A PCI Satellite Receiver.

Could that be possible?

Thanks,

Barcelones

Re: Before I buy a receiver

Yes, DVB PCI will work. I can' speak for the Nova. I am using a TwinHan 1020 for almost a year. Happy with it.

What kind of LNB do I need for this GOL TV on Echostar 8? The regular FTA LNB's have either Horizontal or Vertical polarity. But looking into Lyngsat it shows that on these Echostar Sat's is L or R for polarity. I'm a bit confused. Would my regular LNB work for this GOL TV or the unencrypted DISH 500 on the Echostar 8?
Mike K.
Thanks.

You need a circular lnbf such as DirectTV or DishNet.
