I had a service call the other day to fix a situation with FTA receiver and Dishnetwork. The customer had an FTA dish running through his house cable wiring. They installed a Dishnetwork for him and disconnect the FTA line that goes into the house and hooked the DishNetwork instead. The customer was told that someone else would get him a switch to be used for both receivers. in the main time the customer was going to his tv box and switching the dishes as needed. The customer does not want any other wires to go through his house. I tried to use multi switch at the outside and split the signal inside but it did not work. Any idea?
I just needed to use one wire to go through the house and then split signals between the dishnetwork receiver and the fta one.Thank you
Install a 22KHz switch at the dishes side and connect the FTA dish to the 22KHz side. The DN dish should be on the 0 side.
Connect the cable to the FTA receiver first. Use the LOOP Out on the FTA receiver to run a cable to the DN receiver. Setup the FTA receiver to send a 22KHz tone when it is ON.
When the FTA receiver is OFF, the switch will go back to 0 position passing the signal between the DN receiver/dish.
I hope it will work for your situation. Let us know.

I tried that. I have a fortec star system with universal LNBF. The 22k tone on the receiver is set to auto and can not be changed. I did get signal from DN but no quality signal from fortec star receiver. Tried to switch wires but I lost all signals. I hooked the FTA to the FSS port and the DN to the other port but no signal quality from FTA system I still could get signal stringth though. What could be the problem?
Thank you
Hmmm.... the way Sadoun said should work; I've done this with Bell ExpressVu and it does work... that is with the Legacy LNBs - did the DN guy install DishPro? Is the DN a single dish or a Dish500? These might be causing the problems... just my ideas; I could be totally wrong... :?
Even if I disconect the DN. I still can not get a signal from the FTA using the switch. Could it be because I'm using universal LNBF and the 22k tone is set to auto and can not be changed?
