Can I use DTV dish to receive Dish Network programs

I have DTV dish, wondering if I can use it to watch Dish Network programs with a Dish network IRD.

Or any other bird? like T5. I also have the DTV IRD, but all I could find is the DTV satellite. Wondering if they can only be used to locate a DTV sat?

you can use a dtv dish only for circular polarity sats suchs as most echostars, dtv sats, and nimiq sats. T5 will not be picked up.. requires bigger dish and linear lnb.

But can you locate a non-DTV bird with a DTV dish and DTV IRD?, like echostar. I tried last night, but twice I found the same DTV satellite (since I could watch the program guide). Makes me wonder that DTV IRD might be only for DTV.

i dont think you can locate echostar with dtv receiver because the dtv receiver is not DVB MPEG 2 and this is why you cannot pickup echostars. Directv uses slightly different signal transmission technology. You can pick up FTA echostar with a FTA receiver.

OK, so the DTV dish is fine, but the DTV IRD is not working in this case.
