Dish Net Subscription on a Fortec receiver?

    1. Can you buy a dish net subscription on the Fortec receiver?

    2. Can you buy any subscription on the Fortec receiver?

    3. Can I make my dish net receiver pick up FTA channels as well as the sub channels?

    4. Basically, I want my sub channels, but I want to get the FTA channels as well -what is my best solution without going to a big (c band) dish?

    1. Can you buy a dish net subscription on the Fortec receiver?
NO. You will need to buy a Dish Network system and subscribe. Fortec receivers are for free to air channels.

    2. Can you buy any subscription on the Fortec receiver?
No. It is only intended for free to air satellite tv.

    3. Can I make my dish net receiver pick up FTA channels as well as the sub channels?
No. FTA channels use different satellites, transponder frequencies, symbol rates, and different LNBFs. The satellite dish required is usually bigger in diameter to receive more signal from FTA satellites.

    4. Basically, I want my sub channels, but I want to get the FTA channels as well -what is my best solution without going to a big (c band) dish?
Get two separate systems. One Dish Network system for sub (pay) channels and another for the FTA channels.

    But....

There are receivers out there that can pick up both....For instance....With my FTA receiver I bought for Globecast also has the ability to pick up subscribed dishnet channels via a card slot...Some FTA receivers have what is called a CI slot. With this slot you can call all but DTV and they can send you a card and it will work...But you will need two different LNBF's.....You need the Circular lnbf's for dishnet and a universal lnbf to pick up the other sats.....And no, your fortec receiver does not have this capability....

    Re: But....

No correct. DishNet does not allow subscribers to use any other third party receiver. In order words, you need to use DishNet receiver to sub.
