Different Signal Strengths on 61.5

My primary receiver (301)shows signal strengths in the high nineties on satellite 61.5 transponders 26,27,28. I have a secondary (2700) receiver in an adjoining room which shows readings in the low fifties on the same transponders. The receivers are an equal distance from the SW64 switch. I'm puzzled.
Are the signal strengths based on the signal at the antenna, or at the
individual receivers? All cable is RG 6. Can someone explain why I'm getting such a wide variance in signal strength from two receivers which
are only a wall's thickness away from one another?
Thanks kindly,
Jack

Re: Different Signal Strengths on 61.5

It depends on lot of things such as cable quality, receiver quality (since they are different model), switch quality....
Do a test like this:
Bring the 2nd receiver over, disconnect the primary one, plug the 2nd one in to see what going on. Real and simple...:-)

The older receivers (the 4 digit models) the signal strength meter seems to be lower for an unknown reason

I have a 301 and a 5000. When I go to the spotbeam that has my locals, on the 301 my signal is 125, but on the 5000 it peaks at 101 (both on a scale of 125). This happens on all satellites and all TP's.

There is no problem..the older receivers somehow just do that (low reading)

This is true on ExpressVu receivers as well; I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this. The strength on the 3100s and 5800's always read higher than on the older 2700s and the really old model 4000 that I run at the shop.
