Coming from a Coolsat, I have to say that I really dislike the interface.
I haven't had any experiance with Coolsat, but have had experiance with another 'unknown' receiver and that unknown was far better that Pansat's menu. The only thing worse that the menu is the (lack of) instruction book!

When someone from the importer tells you that "you need to hire a professional installer" just because the book is incorrect and lacking of correct information, they need to reexamine why they are here in the US!
The picture quality via component is nothing short of amazing as compared to composite or S-video.
There is THAT much difference over your Coolsat?? Could it be just because it's a different receiver, or have you tried the S-video out on this model for comparision?
When not in use, turn off the juice !

On my TV (RCA 50" DLP) - yes.

My TV seems to have a serious dislike for anything 480i/p in general but even my digital cable which looks incredible on my tube sets look like complete crap on my HD set.

The picture via component is much improved over s-video / composite. When I first hooked the box up I hooked it up the same as I had the coolsat (S-video) and I saw about the same quality as I did with the Coolsat.

I would best describe it as via component there is less noise.

I noticed that the new Coolsat 5000 which we should see availalble in November has component out :mozilla_cool: .

    Component on the 5000? =D>
If I can't get this POS Pansat to work properly that might be a option. Any idea on the price?

As far as the difference between S-video and component, how about 'apparent' resolution (sharpness)?

The level of the component out on the Coolsat 5000 is very low. I found it completely unacceptable so I switch it to S-video. This was on a friends instalation on a Sony CRT 16x9 set which didn't look that great in the first place.

Also, Viewsat has the Extreme which has component out and Ariza just added their version; the AT-XTREME. I did run across one other, but didn't reconize the name.

That makes four known names with component out unless someone else knows of others.

    Thanks

Yes there is a receiver that does HD. It is manufactured in Korea. I do not remember the name but a search should turn it up.

Qualitv, Integra(not sure if these are still in production) , and I"ve also seen Zinwell dvb-s2 models that will do hdtv, however all of them are a lot more $$ than the non hdtv boxes.
