Help, I can't can't get the OSD on my TV

I just finished installing my satellite system 2 days ago. My manual tells me to tune my TV to channel 64 ( the satellite reciever is supposed to transmit on this channel), so I can locate the OSD screen.
I have tried 2 separate TV's, and I have searched high and low, every channel on the TV ( the manual tells me to locate the OSD ? ) to no avail.
How can I know that the reciever is transmiting? - when I power up the reciever it "boot" 's and then goes to "NOCH", at this point I am stuck, :idea: I have tried the menu button thinking that might bring up the screen , but nothing happens, except the light flashing (indicating the reciever is getting my remote control signal), I even went and bought a UHF antenna. :?
it is a Fortec 9800HDD, stab motor, RCA Colortrak TV

Wait a sec now, how are you actually trying to hook up the receiver to the tv? Forget UHF and use A/V composite cables (given that the tv has composite IN , which is the yellow, red and white ports.)

Now if your TV doesn't have A/V jacks as DruzeTito says - and being an RCA I'm pretty sure it may not :lol: then look in the satellite receiver's specifications for a channel equivalence guide; channel 64 is likely for European TVs on the PAL system, and here in North America our TVs are NTSC. Some manuals give a NTSC channel equivalent for the PAL channel.

I tried the a/v cables on my 2nd TV set (it has that provision), my first set doesn't have those connections. I thought that would work also.
All I have connecting at this time- ( RCA Colortrak) coaxed to the "TV OUT" port of reciever, UHF ant coaxed into reciever "ant in" port, cable from LNB to motor-motor in to reciever "LNB" port, main power and ground.
I though it would have worked with only the coax connecter between TV and the satellite reciever, just to get to the OSD. That is why I am questioning if the signal from the receiver is getting out. All I get out of the TV is static, except for 3 normal UHF channels.

manual says:
RF MODULATOR
FREQUENCY 470MHz to 860MHz
Channel range UHF CH21~69
TV standard PAL G/I/K PAL M, NTSC M
Preset Channel CH64 software controlled

Does this help?

I have gone through UHF Channels 21 - 69?

Unless you have a multi-system TV, use the RCA composite cables. The video output out of the Yellow RCA outlet is NTSC & PAL. The one out of the RF output is only PAL. That is why you are not getting a signal on your TV since it only accepts NTSC signals.

Now, if you don't have RCA video inputs on your TV:
~ Connect the RCA cable from the receiver to a VCR inputs.
~ Turn TV to Channel 3 or 4
~ Use the TV/Video (or Input) button on your VCR remote to switch to Video 1 (or AV1)
~ You should see the menu now

Just for the heck of it jedi, try TV channel 38. This is the equivalent channel on the Benjamin 6600+.

Great work Sadoun, I hooked it up the way you said.
It took me a few minutes to figure out , I didn't know what an AV1 or video 1 was. I flipped down the front cover to find the "LINE" button.
I hit that and the OSD popped right up!

I do appreciate all of you, and the helpful ideas. More than likely I'll be talking with you soon. For my next trick, programming a satellite receiver! :roll:
