    Firware update: SatHawk PVR800 receiver

To update the firmware on the SatHawk PVR800, you will need to go to this page and download the latest firmware:
SatHawk PVR800 USB HD MPEG4 DVB-S2 Satellite Receiver

You can check the f/w version in your receiver by going to the TOOLS menu on your receiver and click on INFORMATION.

The latest version as of the time of writing this post is HDS2-1.0.0-0204-2-MC.
If the version on your receiver is less than 0204, then go ahead and upgrade.
The first thing to do is save the downloaded firmware file on a USB flash disk.
Plug USB disk to the back of your receiver. It will be recognized by the receiver.

    1. Before upgrade, do a Factory Reset:

    • Go to TOOLS menu and click on Factory Settings
    • Click Yes to continue. The receiver will go to factory default and restart.

    2. Upgrade Firmware:

    • Click on MENU and go to TOOLS menu again
    • Scroll down to "Upgrade by USB"
    • Click on START
    • After the loading is completed, Accept the upgrade.
    • The receiver will restart.

    3. After upgrade, do another Factory Reset:
    • Go to TOOLS menu and click on Factory Settings
    • Click Yes to continue. The receiver will go to factory default and restart.

    Known issues:
All channels, satellites, and transponder information will be deleted when you do a F/W upgrade.
After F/W upgrade, the receiver will list European satellites instead of North American satellites. You will have to re-enter all satellites data manually again.
These issues will be corrected in future F/W updates.

The firmware I have was the firmware "125" which I thought was the latest? It is a little over 1 mb. The firmware shown above is around 4mb. I can load it to my usb device but then it can't associate it with a file to look at it. If I try and put it in the Sathawk it doesn't find it. Looks like the version I have "125" has the east sats which I deleted. Blind

Re: Firware update: SatHawk PVR800 receiver

Rainman, I checked last night and I do now have the 204 firmware in mine. I seem to have issues with my receiver no one else has lol. One example is if I scan 125 Ku the PBS SD stuff showed up but it skipped the HD stuff. I went back and scanned again and then I had the HD channels too. I've went to 97w after scanning and even though it shows the channels, there was a blank screen on the tv. I channel up to the first channel on 99w then back to 97W and the 97W stuff shows up. I've had duplicates of channels because of multiple scans too. It dumps them at the end of the channel list. If I manually enter the TP info and scan, it doesn't find anything usually. If I blind scan it sometimes finds it using Tp info that is way off from the correct info. Some channels I had before the firmware upgrade I've never found. Two examples My Network tv on 99W and My Family Tv on 95w. I'm certainly hoping there will be some addtional firmware in the months to come to make this a really good receiver. Blind
