I have the Mercury II.........why is it that when I do a Power Scan and sometimes twice that it will not pickup all the TPs? Case in point on AMC 4 I had to manually input 12120v30000. I scanned at #4 freq step as well.

I have the Fortec Star Dynamic FTA KU band receiver and I sometimes find that a power scan does not pick up all the frequency transponders all the time. There are times when I have to manually enter the frequency, polarity and symbol rate to get a signal. The power scan generally works well but it definitely is not 100% accurate. I wonder why this happens.
I have noticed that I have to set the scan to 4 increments instead of the default 6, and set the scan to Detailed instead of Normal. Are you all doing that when you powerscan?

That's what I'm doing wrong! I'm using normal in 4 steps rather than detailed in 4 steps. Thanks a bunch for the suggestion. I will try it by changing the parameter for searching to detailed in 4 steps.
I've noticed this too and not only on Fortec receivers. Some transponders take a second or two for the receiver to lock in - maybe the power scan goes too fast to grab the signal - I don't know. I always use Lyngsat and manually enter everything; much more fun anyway...

I always relied on the Power Scan.........I guess I had better pay attention to Lyngsat and other lists. With so many changes going on it's a hard to keep up.

I have notice if the freq are close that it sometimes skip a freq don't know why but it does. I usually Power Scan then check it against lyngsat and add the ones it missed.

I found that the best way to scan to get the most live TP's is to set the frequency step to 4mHz, and use "Detail" instead of "Normal" on the scan capture. This takes the longest time to scan, but you'll increase your chances of getting live transponders.
If that type of scan does not get the TP you are seeking, than it is best to enter the TP freq., SR, and polarization, save the information, then go to TP scan.
ok, I am having a problem now with my powerscan on my Fortec Dynamic receiver. It doesn't seem to be picking up anything... It just goes through the movements and keeps 0 as the number of channels found. I backed up my channels and then cleared all channels and it still would scan in the same old channels. I had to reload the old channel list. I am afraid to do a factory reset for fear of not getting anything in the end. Do you think that I have reached the limit of transponder quantity for the receiver's memory? It doesn't explain the inability to scan after deleting channels.
