    Inability to scan

Something does not sound right, I have done many factory resets without any effect on the scanning. You might want to call Fortec Tech Services in Canada they are tops. I have called them with problems, and they have always helped.

In my receiver I must have at least 200 or more channels without any effect on Powerscan.

I assume you have tried Powerscanning other satellites with the same results.

    powerscan problems

I have also developed the same problem about few weeks ago. I hid the power scan botton and it scans like one transpondant and after about 5 to 10 percentage more, the transpondant disappears and it does that few other times as the transpondant appear and disappears, but no more than that first transpondant appears. I don't know if it is some software problems or hardware.

Oh yes... I am still having problems with scanning... it is just not finding anything now.

I get all the channels and sats that are programmed, but when I do a new powerscan I get absolutely nothing detected.

I will call Fortec Star this Friday or Monday to see if they can shed light on this. Thanks Spongella...

What I have been doing is go to Edit TP the red button under antenna setup, delete all the TP's except one, which is automatic, listed with the satellite I want to scan. Then do a Power Scan, and after I do that, I sometimes do an Auto Scan. That way the receiver doesn't get overloaded with TP's. Like a computer keep it clean.

I don't know for sure if that is your problem, but my Mercury II acted real strange. I would hit the menu button to go back a screen it would jump to the radio screen or I would have a partial screen on top of another screen. I would have to shut it off and on the get it right. I read somewhere in this forum that TP overload can cause odd things to happen. I did a factory reset and kept the TP's cleaned out. I have not had a problem since or up till now.
    Good Luck

Jim, thanks for the suggestion. I really thought the transister (do they still use those?) controlling the powerscan was on the blink... I did what you suggested and deleted a couple of transponders on one satellite... I think it was Sat 89. I then was able to powerscan and get some existing and new transponders. Thanks for the help. I guess there is a limit on the number of transponders allowed in the Dynamic.

I think like a PC if too much data or the drive has a lot of stuff on it they tend to slow down.
I guess the old saying is true... KISS.......keep it simple stupid.

I had to reload the old channel list. I am afraid to do a factory reset for fear of not getting anything in the end. Do you think that I have reached the limit of transponder quantity for the receiver's memory? It doesn't explain the inability to scan after deleting channels.
I am having the same exact problem. When I power scan, the blind feature will pick up all the frequencies and symbol rates but when it goes through the movements 0 channels show up. You indicated on a thread follow-up to this issue that you we're going to contact Fortec Star regarding this issue. Did Fortec Star provide you with any explanation regarding this problem and how it can be resolved?

I did not call fortec since by deleting un-used transponders, my problem was solved. I went into the channel listings and pushed the red button for TP Edit. I then deleted any transponders that were not getting any signal, assuming that they were not being used. I only deleted 5 or 6 and then when I did the powerscan, everything went back to normal and I was able to get new transponders and scan for FTA channels no problem...
    Jim's suggestion fixed my problem.
